City Direct Bus Service 680, operated by SBS Transit, is a weekday peak-hour City Direct service connecting Buangkok & Hougang to Novena, Orchard and Dhoby Ghaut. It is introduced under the Bus Connectivity Enhancement Programme (BCEP).
City Direct 680 commences operation on 15 December 2025.

Service 680 offers residents of Buangkok and Hougang improved connectivity to the Orchard area, providing a direct travel alternative to commuters who typically rely on the rail network and feeder buses. As a City Direct service, it only operates on weekdays.
If the eves of Christmas, New Year’s Day, and Chinese New Year fall on a weekday, the Evening Peak departures will be brought forward to the afternoon. Revised departure times will be provided by the operator closer to the affected date.

Interesting to hear that 660 AM peak is packed, I’ve only seen the PM peak and it’s always pretty empty. This almost fully duplicates 660M in the northeast, but I doubt it’ll be able to lighten 660M’s load much
660 load is max during the last few scheduled buses….
Double decker fully filled and with standees. The Serangoon north people will be glad with this addition.

I thought it too but 680 do the Orchard version instead…..
the stops are kind of different from 660/660M. I hope they do not stop the serivce for 660/660M with this new addition of 680. Timings do not work for those who need to reach office at 8am/8.30am btw, which kind of sucks. Trains are still the best.
