Go-Ahead Bus Service 83 is a trunk service plying between Punggol and Sengkang, passing through Punggol Central, Punggol Field, Punggol Road, Compassvale Street and Sengkang East Road.
Service 83 connects the residential towns of Punggol East and Compassvale, serving catchment areas outside the coverage of the Punggol & Sengkang LRT system. The route connects with Sengkang and Punggol Bus Interchanges, as well as major transfer bus stops along Punggol Road at (Blk 190C and Blk 298A).
On the eve of public holidays, operating hours from Punggol will be extended to align with the extended train service hours. Extended last bus timings will be provided by the operator closer to the affected day.
I strongly think that bus service 161 should have a variant 161M which serves what 83 serves. What I am trynna say is that introduce 161M start from Hougang follow the route till Sengkang and follow 83 route then go on to Woodlands. Since the tpe bus stop is badly crowded, definitely need more bus services to Punggol. *need more trunks*
83 Is basically a variant of 3, which shares all stops in Punggol. The Punggol section is over-demanded if 161M also serves that area meaning that 3 bus routes shares the exact same routing in punggol. 39 and 117 (and to a lesser extent 85) are basically what connects Punggol to the west.
Also TPE’s Bef/Aft Punggol road is not a closed interchange, you can walk from Cove/Meridian LRT to take the bus there. That alone also counts as part of punggol.
Service 83 could extend to Pasir Ris and integrating with Service 68 passing via Punggol East, Sengkang, Buangkok MRT, Hougang, Defu, Bartley Road East, Tampines & Pasir Ris
I sat on SG6298G on service 83
I am not sure if I was inside the bus that was the photo (SG6298G) above as I forgot the bus driver and the number “609”

Horrible idea. Service 68 is badly crowded already in its current route……
