Brief History:

  • 1985: Bishan Bus Terminal set up
  • 1989: Bishan Bus Interchange built

The building of Bishan Bus Interchange was first planned to support the development of Bishan as a new town. Only one bus service, Service 56, connected between Toa Payoh and Bishan Street 13. In December 1985, a temporary bus terminal (Bishan Bus Terminal) was set up near Blk 510 to cater for Service 56 as well as new bus services.

On Sunday, 30th April 1989, the new interchange became operational, and linked to the Bishan MRT Station opened two years before, giving commuters greater convenience for Bus-MRT transfers. It was built in a unique square design with the covered interchange concourse surrounding the open-air bus park.

Bishan should build an ITH located at Bishan Place

Bishan should instead build an Integrated Transport Hub. The location should possibly be at Bishan Place. Two alighting berths and 3 sawtooth boarding berths

The service guide rack is still missing from this interchange. Is there a way for us to collect the bus guides? Especially for services that are specific to this interchange (ie. Services 50, 53, 56, 58, 59, 410G/W)?

      Hi there
Regarding the bus guide rack, they have now removed it, as I assume part of their plan to go eco friendly and moving bus guides online. You can always try asking the PSO for them if you want, like I did.

I was at Bishan Interchange yesterday and I find out there’s no service guide rack which is near the entrance of junction 8. May I know what happen to it?

Should be demolished and existing bus services can extend to other interchange.
