Service 55 is an inter-town route serving between Bishan, Ang Mo Kio, Hougang, Eunos, Still Road and Marine Parade. It shares a bulk of its route with Service 25, between Ang Mo Kio to Eunos.
It provides connections from Marine Parade to Eunos MRT alongside Service 13, and also between Ang Mo Kio Avenue 10 & 3 and Bishan Int/MRT.

- 1992 (29 Nov): Introduced between Ang Mo Kio Int and Marine Parade Ter under TransitLink Network Integration Exercise Phase 10
- 1994 (16 Jan): Extended to Bishan Int
- 2001 (16 Sep): Amended to loop at Siglap Rd with the closure of Marine Parade Terminal
- 2003: Serves new bus stop outside Victoria Sch along Marine Parade Rd
- 2011 (07 Mar): Designated wheelchair-accessible bus service (WAB)
- 2017 (09 Apr): Extended to Upp East Coast Ter
- 2025 (31 Aug): Skips the bus stop outside Kew Green Condo along Upp East Coast Rd towards Upp East Coast Ter
