55 will not be under Serangoon Eunos package from June 2027
LTA said in their press release that SMRT will take over 26 services but the list of services given by LTA only totals as 25. I read somewhere that there will be a new service under the package that will count as total 26 services? I might be wrong. So 55 will be moved to another package and the best part of all is that: Who will take care of Changi Village terminal? My big guess is that it will be Go Ahead since they also have service 2 and 29 and also, their Loyang depot is the nearest to Changi Village.
BN might take a few duties
Wheres that 55A?
used to exist before 55 went to uec
to be exact, 55 used to loop at siglap road
55A was a half-trip service that went from Bishan to Victoria School via Siglap Road that operated in the very late night after the last departure of 55 from bishan (I think last bus of regular 55 from bishan was about 10:40 to 10:50 pm daily)
When 55 was extended to upper east coast terminal and converted to a bidirectional route, there was no longer any need for a half-distance short-working service and that’s why there is no 55A
In my opinion, a new bus route 277 should be introduced to loop at Bishan bus interchange alongside this route and two other routes, routes 410G and 410W, after discovering that route 410G is the sole route for the bus stop inside block 228 Bishan, and that route 55 is the sole route connecting Bishan Interchange to a school’s front gate.
Bus 55 passes by many schools in the morning. However, the frequency can be up to 19 min between buses, leaving many students stranded when bus 55 is too full to pick up more passengers.
Please consider to start more regular service earlier for these students who have to reach school by 7:30am.
