Service 50 connects the residential towns of Bishan, Ang Mo Kio, Sengkang and Punggol. It is the fourth bus service to be introduced under the Bus Service Enhancement Programme (BSEP), as well as the first to be dual-depot controlled (Hougang & Ang Mo Kio) and to use BSEP double-deck buses.
The route enhances connectivity particularly within the Punggol and Sengkang areas, where bus connectivity to outlying estates used to be rather limited.

Should introduce Short Trip 50A during evening peak hours from Bishan Bus Interchange to Sengkang East Way near Sengkang MRT Station to alleviate high demand on Service 50.
Currently, Volvo B9TL CDGE’s were spotted in Bus Service 86 from SengKang Interchange to Ang Mo Kio Interchange, 64 towards Nei Ling Street, some CDGEs on Service 14, and I spot another CDGE recently on Service 13, after that day, no more CDGEs were seen on Service 13, we should add more CDGEs on this service, not getting them to retire. As said, we should retire some of the Volvo B9TL Wright Buses as sometimes its not really good.
Bus service 50 has got to have the most unreliable bus service ever. The buses are often late/drive like snails and mainly because of the too many frickin traffic lights at punggol, the next bus is always about 5 mins away while the front bus will always be 16 mins ahead. Buses are often behind of schedule and even when the traffic lights are green, the buses move like slower than most can walk. I suggest replacing all the Volvo B9TL Wright buses early as they complete garbage and useless. From draggy engine, uncomfortable seats & almost non existent aircon. The B9TL Wright has to be the most uninteresting bus and must have been make from trash. This bus model is the only model besides the Citaros that should deserve early retirement. Pls improve Service 50 reliablity/Schedule or remove the ridicious amount of traffic lights in Punggol. Fleet should be: MAN A95 & Electric Buses. Scrapyard: Volvo B9TL Wright. Schedule should be 8-10 mins and should only be 2-3 mins behind schedule. Other simpler solution is add more buses so buses wont always be behind schedule. Also make sure the drivers dont drive like snails, this isnt a tour bus to watch animals or scenery
As of today, all 5 Volvo B9TL CDGES on 50 being registration, SBS7350U, SBS7458T, SBS7470G, SBS7480C and SBS7482Y has been de registered sadly. Because of this, service 50 is now lacking buses, the remaining buses will definitely not be able to cover the whole service. Please add more MAN A95 on service 50 to cover the honestly st*pid idea of replacing all 5 at once.
I saw a Scania K23OUB on service 50 today
Didn’t catch the license plate
I also saw the Mercedes-Benz Citaro on Service 50 (SBS6679D).
