Service 177 is a weekday peak-hour inter-town route connecting Bukit Batok, Hillview and Bukit Panjang, as well as providing bus connections to Ministry of Defence Headquarters (MINDEF HQ @ Gombak Drive) and its surrounding army camps. Formerly a full-day service, it now only operates during weekday peak hours with moderate demand. In 2012, this route was converted from bidirectional operation to unidirectional operation, looping at Jelebu Road when the former Bukit Panjang Interchange was demolished to make way for the new Bukit Panjang Integrated Transport Hub.

Service 177 calls at MINDEF CP, Gombak Dr both towards Jelebu Rd (Bukit Panjang) and Bukit Batok.

During Christmas Eve, New Year’s Eve & Chinese New Year Eve, afternoon trips from Bukit Batok will be adjusted to operate earlier. Exact hours are announced by Tower Transit closer to these dates.

Temporary Amendment to skip Hillview Link

Hillview Link was temporarily closed from 23 November 2020 to facilitate the construction of NS Hub. As a result, Service 177 is temporarily amended to ply an express sector along Hillview Rd and Upper Bukit Timah Rd (between Hillview Rd & Gombak Dr).

There is no change in bus stops served for Service 177.

At Hillview Avenue, buses towards Bukit Panjang serve Bus Stop 43151 – Opp Glendale Pk Condo, while buses towards Bukit Batok serve Bus Stop 43159 – Bef Glendale Pk Condo. In addition, only buses towards Bukit Batok will serve Bus Stop 43721 – Blk 319 along Gombak Drive.

Can extend this service to somewhere in the east and make it a full-day service operating daily from 5.50 am to 11.20 pm. Then the current 177 will become 177M.

Extend to the East?? Do you know what is 177 in the first place or not?

177 is to serve MINDEF HQ and complement 176 between Bukit Panjang – Bukit Batok. MINDEF HQ is a protected place for goodness sake.

And for that, LTA will tell people to take MRT to the East…… Once you understand the history of 177, you know why 177 is remained like this.

I currently use bus 176 from Bulit Batok to Hillview and at 1830 to 1900 it is always over-full. I really would like to use service 177, but the last bus at 1820 prevents me from doing so. I finish work in Tuas at 1800, take the company bus to Jurong East, MRT to Bukit Batok; it means I arrive 1835-1840 at BB interchange, too late to get the last bus. I often see people waiting at the stop after the service has finished. Might it be possible to extend the service?

Tower Transit is the Anchor Operator for both Bukit Batok Bus Interchange and Jurong East New Bus Interchange (also known as Jurong East Interim Bus Interchange).
