Bus Service 36 is a trunk route connecting Changi Airport, Marine Parade, and the City areas, with express sectors along the East Coast Parkway (ECP). Within the City, it serves the Suntec City, City Hall, Dhoby Ghaut, and Orchard.
For the Marine Parade–City connection, Bus Service 36 is a popular option for commuters and sees high demand during weekday peak hours and weekends. This sector is supplemented by Short Trip 36B during weekday peak hours. This connection is also served by Service 16, which travels along a different route via Nicoll Highway and Tanjong Katong; and by the Thomson-East Coast Line, which also links Marine Parade with Orchard.
For the Changi Airport–City connection, Bus Service 36 is the only direct bus route linking Changi Airport and the City. However, it is less popular compared to alternatives like the East West Line, Airport-City Shuttle, or taxis, due to longer travel times.
Service 36 is currently the only route to terminate at Changi Airport; all other public bus services loop at the Airport. The route also does not call at Airport Blvd (Near SATS Flight Kitchen). It is also the only service to stop at ECP (Aft E.C. Sea Sports Club) bus stop within Carpark F3 of East Coast Park, the only bus stop along the ECP.
Operations
At Changi Airport, Bus Service 36 calls at all passenger terminals, serving Terminals 3, 1, 2, and 4 in sequence.
Bus Service 36 operates in a continuous loop. At the route’s official terminus (Terminal 2), passengers wishing to continue their journey after Terminal 2 can stay onboard the bus while a new Bus Captain takes over, without incurring a new ride. This practice is referred to as clowbus (crew layover without bus), where bus drivers rotate themselves between buses and do not stick to a permanent bus for the day (Bus Service 92 is the only other bus service operating in a continuous loop).
During the late night hours, Service 36 operates half-trips terminating in the City as Short Trip 36A.
For certain trips that terminate at Changi Airport Terminal 2, the T suffix is used, and buses operate as Service 36T.
Changi Airport Operations Specifics
Changi Airport Terminals 1, 2, and 3 have bus stops located within the basement, which also function as cargo bays. Height restrictions prevent double-decker buses from entering these basements. Furthermore, security checks for unattended items are conducted before buses enter each terminal basement, and onboard bus announcements encourage passengers to report any suspicious persons or items.
In case of basement closures, buses will be diverted to skip the affected terminal building or be redirected to stop at the terminal departure hall, where a temporary bus stop will be set up.
Announcements onboard encourage passengers to report any suspicious persons or items.

Anyone realized that this bus 36 doesn’t have real time bus timings at all? Is it due to security reasons?
Go-ahead should really procure some man a24 or increase frequency of 36, it is really overcrowded
Would be really funny if this gets rationalised to bypass Marine Parade bc of TEL4, bad idea probably but seeing what happened to 66 I wouldn’t be surprised.
At any rate it would still have to connect CGA to Orchard, could be cool if it gets routed down East Coast road instead to provide a link for East Coast residents to Tanjong Katong MRT in both directions
Most of the marine parade buses (except 15 and 966 probably) will be pointless when TEL4 opens
No.
36 serves Changi Airport – Marine Parade direct, and also Marine Parade – City/Orchard Road direct. TEL has to serve another catchment and is that long.
Maybe amend 36 to loop at Marine Parade on TEL4 opens
where would it even loop at though? Siglap Link again? I’d have thought they wouldn’t want that to happen since they got rid of all buses looping there. 36 would be redundant with TEL but I don’t think they’d make much amendments to it tbh. But we’ll see
No, make it non-stop between changi airport and tanjong katong, then non-stop between tanjong katong and the city center
What other bus services use CLOWbus? maybe 115 or 42?
I think 92 does.
