Service 38 was formed with the merger of two former feeder routes (220 & 290), and provides inter-town links between Bedok South, Simei and Tampines East.
From Bedok South Road, Service 38 provides a quicker route to Bedok Interchange as compared to Feeder 229, and compliments Services 12, 12e and 47 with connections to Tanah Merah MRT, Simei and Tampines East. Along with Service 20, Service 38 links up most of Simei estate with Simei MRT.

When I first saw this special 3-door bus with the license plate number of SG3082G on bus service 38,I was amazed by the size of the bus and I got surprised when LTA released news that this was a bus with 1 entrance & 2 exits! I am so glad to see that these special 3-door buses are being deployed to the bus service 38 which plys between Tampines and Bedok. I do hope LTA will purchase more of these buses in future as electric buses are more quieter than buses
that are fitted with diesel engines. When an electric bus is in operation, you can’t even hear a single sound from the bus at all. This applies to Go Ahead bus service 3 which has 3 Yutong fully electric buses deployed to it. When you are inside the bus and the bus is moving, not even a loud noise is heard at all because electric buses are fitted with special electricity batteries.
