Bus Service 405 serves Choa Chu Kang cemetery, crematorium and columbarium with connections to Boon Lay Bus Interchange and MRT station. This service has two u-turn points, one at the end of Old Choa Chu Kang Road, and the other spanning the width of Lim Chu Kang Road, just before Murai Farmway.
As a special ad-hoc service, it operates only during Qing Ming, Good Friday, First Ramadan, Hari Raya Puasa, Hari Raya Haji, Deepavali and All Souls' Day. Exact operating dates will be released by SBS Transit closer to the first day of operations every year.
During certain operating days with exceptionally high traffic at Old Choa Chu Kang Road, buses may be diverted to skip Old Choa Chu Kang Road entirely, looping at Lim Chu Kang Road and returning back to Boon Lay.
During the Singapore SEA Games 2015, a temporary route variant Service 405M was introduced to bring convenience for commuters going to the National Shooting Centre located at Old Choa Chu Kang Rd End.

this bus service should operated daily and extend to Lim Chu Kang Rd End & skip Old Choa Chu Kang Rd End to support bus 975 from Sungei Gedong Camp and bus 172 from Civil Defence Academy when they book out/book in. it’s too packed when I saw it oftenly and hard for them to transfer at Old Choa Chu Kang Rd which both buses 172 & 975 route to Boon Lay, CCK, Bukit Panjang.
Additionally, just take Service 405M again and use the same route back in 2015. and make it a special days like 405 now.
405 can also go to Old Choa Chu Kang Road End there. The bus stop not only serves Singapore Gun Club, but servicemen from SAFTI Live Firing Area (Poyan, SAFTI City) can still board the bus.
What it means is that 405 can also go to Murai Farmway and Jalan Murai.
Anyway, 405 may be amended to loop at Old Choa Chu Kang Road End in the future because of the realignment of Lim Chu Kang Road in 2030.
If one who does not have a car or vehicle needs to visit Choa Chu Kang (CCK) Columbarium or the so-called “new” Choa Chu Kang Christian and Lawn Cemetery on non-public holidays when SBS Bus 405 does not operate owing to limited demand for that bus service, the only way is to take Bus 172 from Boon Lay MRT Station and Bus Interchange.
Immediately after Bus 172 passes the Choa Chu Kang Muslim Cemetery, alight at the bus stop opposite the Choa Chu Kang Christian Cemetery Chapel (where one can see rows of tombs at Choa Chu Kang Portuguese and French Roman Catholic Cemetery in front of the chapel) along Old Choa Chu Kang Road. Walk towards the junction between Jalan Bahar and Lim Chu Kang Road. Cross the road using the pedestrian traffic lights and walk towards the car park beside the CCK Muslim Cemetery. As of November 2020, do note that the Old Choa Chu Kang Road leading to CCK Columbarium does NOT have a pavement on either side of the road except grass-covered ground which some may find difficulty walking and balancing as it is uneven and narrow. If one chooses to walk on the two-lane Old Choa Chu Kang Road itself here, one may need to look out for fast-moving vehicles travelling to and fro along it.
Walk carefully through the car park until a path in a park beside the CCK Muslim Cemetery is seen. Walk on this path until you see a brown wooden gate across the path and a bus stop facing a PUB Sub-station along Old Choa Chu Kang Road. Cross the road and walk towards the public toilet and adjacent car park of CCK Christian and Lawn Cemetery.
You can walk to CCK Columbarium by walking along the road beside the CCK Christian and Lawn Cemetery and then crossing a pedestrian bridge over a canal which is in front of the columbarium. Alternatively, you may walk along Chinese Cemetery Path 4 (which is the road parallel to the road beside the CCK Christian and Lawn Cemetery) until you reach CCK Columbarium. After one’s visit to the CCK Columbarium, use the path beside the CCK Muslim Cemetery to walk back to the bus stop in front of the CCK Christian Cemetery Chapel for one’s bus journey home.
Why Service 405 not operating on Christmas Day coz there are also Christian columbarium there.
Please consider.
Thank You.
Why need to operate only on selected days meh?
It should operate daily to 6.30p.m and the frequency is not long as a lot of people are praying and working at a cemetery
