Basically 861X
Taking just one quick look at the route makes me smile. Smile real big
Firstly, it doesnt follow 461 through Yishun Ave 6. Instead it turns the other way to serve the older estate currently only being served by 806, which is a mega W.
Even better, 461 is the first to actually utilise its different numbering & branding from “Express Feeder” to great use by not directly following a “parent service” like 861. Which leads us to the most important part of this route: Khatib MRT.
Instead of following 861 to stop at Khatib MRT (Yishun Ring Rd), currently a horribly cramped and crowded pair of stops during peak hours, IT STOPS ALONG AVE 2!! As I mentioned in my previous comment a few months ago, stopping at Ave 2 is basically stopping “against the flow”, since majority of demand and traffic is generally flowing in the opposite direction of where 461 is travelling (eg In AM Peak, 461 stops at Bef Khatib MRT, while majority of the crowd is at Opp Khatib Stn)
As an Yishunite, naturally my expectations for 461 is high, I hope it doesn’t disappoint during actual operations!
Will this service operate double-decker buses or not? Because there are only 4 stops in this route (per direction).
-This service is just a faster alternative to Services 117/M & 861 from Yishun East to Khatib MRT Station.
-I will be filming this route at End-July 2026.
-Even though this service mostly duplicates Service 117/M (skipping stops) along Yishun Avenue 1 towards Khatib MRT Station, it is still an alternative to both services, because its attention is to bring Yishun East residents a quicker route to Khatib MRT Station. Passengers still living in that area have to take Feeder Service 806 to Yishun ITH/MRT & it takes time.
-By the way, this service is operated by Tower Transit & not SBS Transit, because Yishun is a part of Tower Transit (Sembawang-Yishun Bus Package) rather than SBS Transit (Seletar Bus Package).
-To be honest I think all Yishun Feeder services & Services 650, 852 to be transferred to Sembawang-Yishun Bus Package in 2030 once the Seletar Bus Package contract has ended as both services start & end in locations that are hubs to Tower Transit, especially Service 852. The rest can stay.
-Services 117/M could transfer to Seletar Bus Package once Sengkang-Hougang Bus Package contract ends as that Bus Package is quite full already & also because Services 117/M serve the Seletar Aerospace region.
That is all

I hope LTA will announce the debut date for Bus 461 very soon and I predict that Bus 461 will be launched in July 2026 as subject to changes.
What changes? Chencharu is not going to open for at least another few years. Maybe there are new stops along Yishun East residential estate. Hopefully Service 461 commences operations soon so I can record it.
-I also saw a training bus near Buangkok MRT Station on 20 June 2026 under “Route Training”. There may be a new bus service in the Buangkok/Hougang/Sengkang regions soon. It was operated by Go-Ahead.
I also saw a training bus from Go Ahead before 965 amendment was announced, I thought that 83 was gonna be extended to Buangkok
When are they ever gonna announce this service’s introduction?
Patience is key. Just wait for a few days or weeks to announce its service introduction
It always crowded on bus service 861, bus service 461 will be also crowded.
And LTA still insists that 883 to be majority DD svc when 861 need more DDs… Current weekdays DD is only 5 and weekends is around 4.883 meanwhile only 1 or 2 SD.
