Bus Service 85 is an inter-town route connecting Punggol and Sengkang towns to Yishun, while plying an express sector along the Tampines Expressway (TPE) and Seletar Expressway (SLE). While it shares a similar routing with Service 965 by connecting Sengkang and Yishun, Service 85 provides higher coverage of Sengkang and Punggol towns, while service 965 offers connections from Punggol Road (Blk 298A / Blk 190C) for bus transfers, as well as a faster route to Sengkang Interchange.
Double-deck buses were deployed on this service from 22 Jun 2015.

- 2011 (31 Jul): Serves 3 new pairs of bus stops along Sengkang West Way
- 2012 (19 Nov): Amended to ply Sengkang East Way, Sengkang West Way and Jln Kayu permanently

pls extend 85 to serve Punggol North Ave, Punggol East! We simply here has no connectivity to Yishun and Woodlands. Extend to punggol coast if can also. The only bus we can rely on is 381 and 50!! Pls do something for our area!
