Yishun Integrated Transport Hub

Yishun Integrated Transport Hub is a Bus Interchange located at Yishun Town Centre, serving residential areas around Yishun and Khatib.

The interchange is the tenth air-conditioned bus interchange in Singapore, integrated within the Northpoint City shopping centre (South Wing) and North Park Residences condominium, while seamlessly connected to Yishun MRT Station via an underpass at Basement 2. Nearby public amenities include Golden Village Yishun, Nee Soon Sports Centre, Yishun Polyclinic, Yishun Pond Park, and Nee Soon East Community Centre.

Yishun Integrated Transport Hub opened on Sunday, 8 September 2019, with SMRT Buses being the anchor operator. As the tendered package awarded operator for the Sembawang–Yishun Bus Package, Tower Transit is the current anchor operator from 5 September 2021.

This interchange replaces the Yishun Temporary Bus Interchange which replaced the previous interchange since 14 March 2015.

Yishun Integrated Transport Hub is a bus interchange located in the residential town of Yishun. Connecting with Yishun MRT Station along the North South MRT Line, the interchange is a transport node for commuters heading in and out of town, allowing for convenient transfers between the rail network and the many bus services at the interchange.

Opened on 8 September 2019, Yishun Bus Interchange will be the tenth Integrated Transport Hub (ITH) to be opened in Singapore, after Toa Payoh in May 2002, Sengkang in Jan 2003, Ang Mo Kio in Apr 2007, Boon Lay in Dec 2009, Serangoon in Sep 2011, Clementi in Nov 2011, Bedok in Nov 2014, Joo Koon in Nov 2015, and Bukit Panjang in Sep 2017. The interchange is integrated within the Northpoint City shopping centre (South Wing) and the North Park Residences condominium, with underpasses leading to Yishun MRT Station across the road. Hence, retail, residential and transportation facilities are combined under one roof.

The interchange has a single vehicular concourse area with two ingress/egress points leading to Yishun Avenue 2. Located at the north end is a Left-In-Left-Out access, and at the South end, a full-movement signalised junction. Pedestrian access will be offered to Yishun Avenue 2 and retail areas of Northpoint City.

The interchange concourse features offices, staff lounges and an NTWU Canteen. Commuter facilities such as queue lines at every berth, bus departure timing screens, and priority seats at every berth will be provided.

Before the construction of the Yishun Bus Interchange, Yishun had two roadside bus termini; one at Yishun Avenue 5 and the other at Yishun Central. The former handled feeder services like 800 and 801, while trunk routes 850 and 851 called at the Yishun Central Terminal. In the 1980s, the rising development of Yishun New Town called for a more permanent facility for buses. The Housing and Development Board (HDB), responsible of public works, designed and built a permanent facility between Yishun Avenue 2 and Yishun Central 1. Yishun Bus Interchange opened on 23 August 1987 with five trunk and four feeder bus services, gradually expanding to the 19 bus services today.

In 2003, SBS introduced Service 39 to Yishun, followed by 85 in 2006. In December 2010, private operator Advance Coach introduced AC7, a cross-border bus route to Johor Bahru.

The last day of operations of (Old) Yishun Bus Interchange was on 13 March 2015, following which the Yishun Temporary Bus Interchange was opened to replace the old one. Yishun Bus Interchange was demolished and replaced by an air-conditioned Integrated Public Transport Hub, Northpoint City, housing a shopping mall, offices and residential developments by 2019.

Like previous Integrated Transport Hubs, the retail section opened far ahead of the bus interchange. Northpoint City (South Wing) was opened on 18 December 2017 while the interior of the bus interchange had yet to be fitted.

Yishun Bus Interchange was used as a layover point for SBS Transit & SMRT Buses operating on Shuttle 10 during the 3 Day Closure on North South Line for Canberra Track Works in May 2019.

    All svcs except 39, 85, 103 & 860 give to tts under smb-yis
    Svc 853/M to serve b/s opp blk 757 & blk 767 and skips yishun ctrl 1 & 2
New feeder 802 loop at orchid club rd and replaces lost sectors of 853/M
Svc 858 skips yishun ctrl 2 and replaced with new 808.
Svc 859 to skip yishun int and loop at yishun ctrl 1
Svc 860 to skip yishun int and loop at yishun st 21
Svc 859T and 860T to be withdrawn

      Svc 103, 171, 801, 803, 806, 808, 825 (extended from YCK int), 850 (renumbered from AC7), 853/M & 856 should shift to chencharu int.
Then 858 shorten to Yishun int and lost sectora covered by 965/969
      Then yishun int now only has 39, 85, 800, 802, 804, 805, 807, 811, 812, 851, 852, 854, 855, 857 & 858 at the int.

A few things not good here:
1: 825 cannot amend away from Yio Chu Kang. It absolutely defeats the purpose of the naming and shuttle service, it’s original purpose to connect Lentor to YCK

        2. 858 must serve Woodlands. If not W’lands ppl have no connection to Changi (see the peak hour nonstop crowds!)

        3. If 965/969 replaces 858 sectors, they won’t serve Gambas anymore, which then inconveniences industrials there.

Otherwise, the rest of the ideas I likey. Especially the idea to convert AC7 to number (but 850 already exists, better if number 880).
Also, what is 808? I’m presuming it’s the Feeder to Ave 8 like the one I mentioned last year (see bottom)

I know this sounds crazy, but Yishun may need another Feeder Service to serve Yishun Ave 8 due to new developments there. I honestly don’t think 801 or 806 will be enough, since many would have to walk pretty far to get there.

From what I see now, 801 is near impossible to amend to Ave 8 since almost no roads link to Ave 8 to form a proper loop back to Ave 1.

803, 804, 805, 806 and Trunk 117/M are out of the question since amending to Ave 8 will horribly defeat the main purpose of their existence in Yishun.

From what I mentioned in the Sembawang Bus Interchange page, I had an idea to amend 859 and 883/M to improve the conditions in Yishun ITH. However I don’t think it would be feasible to amend them so far away to Ave 8 (since both still need to serve Yishun MRT).

So far, only 103 seems feasible enough to serve Ave 8 via Ave 2 and 7. However this will move the route away from Ave 11 which will remove a fast route from Ave 11 to Yishun MRT.

Therefore I think there must be a new feeder service, presumably Feeder Service 802, running Yishun – Yishun St 42 via Yishun Ave 7, 8 and 1

All services in Yishun ITH should transfer operations to Tower Transit except for services 39, 85, 103, 851 & 860

Most of the services here at YHITH Are under the SBST Seletar Package and it would make more sense if they had more anchor operator services
    Services 39, 85, 103, 860- stay as it is
Service 851 transfers to SBST Bukit Merah Package
New Service 864 Yishun to Kampong Bahru via Khatib MRT, Upper Thomson, Lornie, Farrer, Holland Road, Orchard, Great World City & CTE
Service 812 should skip Yishun ITH When going in the second loop just like 811 for space for the new 864

  • 11 December 2023 at 2:32 PM

In the future should have a new feeder service to serve Yishun Ave 8. Here’s my idea:
Feeder bus service 808 (Yishun St 42)
    Yishun ITH -> Yishun Ave 2 -> Yishun Ave 7 -> Yishun Ave 6 -> Yishun St 42 -> Yishun St 43 -> Yishun Ave 1 -> Yishun Ave 8 -> Yishun Ave 7 -> Yishun Ave 2 -> Yishun ITH.

Canberra-Ave 7 section of Ave 8 can be served by 117/117M if amended.
