Two former bus interchanges are set to be demolished in the near term, as published in a tender posted by the Land Transport Authority today (20 Jun 2025) – BD203 – Infrastructure Demolition Works. Yishun Temporary Bus Interchange and Compassvale Bus Interchange will be torn down in this contract.
The former served the bustling town centre of Yishun from 2015 to 2019 during the redevelopment of the original interchange into the current integrated retail, housing and transport hub. After operations shifted to the new facility, the temporary interchanged continued to served as auxiliary parking capacity up to 2021, relieving space constraints for the new interchange due to transition woes, and for the overnight parking of buses. The interchange concourse also used for other purposes during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Comapssvale Bus Interchange served as a temporary expansion of Sengkang Bus Interchange from 2017 to 2024. It was introduced under the Bus Service Enhancement Programme (BSEP) as the existing interchange lacked capacity to accommodate new bus services. It served two bus services – 110 and 374, and later as a layover location for bus 114. It was also utilized as a parking location for split-shift bus services. The closure of the interchange on 1 December 2024 was in tandem with the opening of Buangkok Bus Interchange.
It is not known what will stand on these former transport sites yet. The URA Masterplan indicates that land plots are reserve sites with no confirmed development plans disclosed.
These locations are based on the site briefing for the tender on the government procurement portal GeBIZ, in which the addresses for both Yishun Temporary Bus Interchange and Compassvale Bus Interchange were listed.
