Hougang Bus Park is a bus park located at the junction of Hougang Avenue 4 and Upper Serangoon Road, a short distance away from Hougang Central Bus Interchange and Hougang MRT station.

The facility was built to supplement bus parking at Hougang Central Bus Interchange, which had its bus park partially closed to facilitate the construction of the Cross Island Line Hougang Station. It is not open to passengers. Parking of buses at the facility commenced on 25 April 2022.

Construction of the Cross Island Line necessitated the clearing of the western portion of Hougang Central Bus Interchange, affecting around 19 bus lots. As a result, the Land Transport Authority made plans to relocate these bus parking lots to a nearby location.

On 31 January 2019, the civil engineering tender was published, under LTA Contract CR1088: Temporary Bus Parking and Driver Facility (TPDF), which was subsequently awarded to CCECC Singapore Pte Ltd. Construction began in late 2019 and was completed sometime in late 2021. The facility was also named Hougang Bus Park, as reflected by permanent signages mounted on the building facade.

Hougang Bus Park commenced parking buses from Hougang Central Int on 25 April 2022.

Facilities
  • Admin Offices (SBS Transit & Spare Office)
  • Staff lounge cum Briefing Room
  • First Aid / Nursing Room
  • Canteen Provision
  • Information Boards (Empty)
  • Toilets

Hougang Bus Park features 25 bus parking lots. Staff facilities include offices, lounges and a canteen.

Main vehicle access to Hougang Bus Park is via a signalised traffic junction along Hougang Avenue 4. Secondary access is via a left-in/left-out (LILO) intersection with Upper Serangoon Road, which is usually kept closed when not in use.

Public Access

Hougang Bus Park is not open to the general public and no scheduled bus services originate/terminate at the bus park. Should bus services from Hougang Ctrl Int be dispatched from Hougang Bus Park, buses will deadhead to Hougang Ctrl Int to pick up passengers.

The bus park was opened to the public on 9 & 10 September 2023 for the RSAF55 Open House held at Paya Lebar Air Base. The bus park was used as a boarding/alighting point for shuttle bus services.

    I would have preferred that the previous Kovan City (Hougang South Interchange) should not be converted into a Car Park. If the bus interchange remains, I would preferred these services terminate there:

    Original Services: Svc 51, Svc 132, Svc 151
    Moved from Hougang Central (In midst of CRL construction): Svc 89, Svc 107, Svc 165

    Then the feeder services can follow Yishun Intratown Services:
    Svc 113 (Merger of Svc 321 & Svc 326) -> Svc 321 (Hougang South – Hougang Ave 6/Hougang Street 11 (Loop)
    Svc 112 (Merger of Svc 322 & Svc 327) -> Svc 322 (Hougang South – Hougang Ave 7/Hougang Street 92 (Loop)
    Moved from Hougang Central (In midst of CRL construction): Svc 324 & Svc 329

      Kovan Hub got decommissioned while YCK got upgraded to interchange status. Better if Kovan Hub had been retained as a secondary bus station for 132 and 151. 112 and 113 could have been converted into Townlinks like 911 and 912 in Woodlands Centre. Alternatively, they could operate from Kovan Hub like 265 and 268 in AMDEP.

    Basically, same arrangement as the Bukit Panjang Bus Interchange closure from December 2012 to 2016, when BP interchange bus services either used the BP bus park to rest, or change to loop around BP interchange.

    I have a feeling, eventually, Hougang may be like that, and Hougang will also have ITH. About time already.

      HG definitely will have a ITH in tandem with CRL rail interchange. Just like neighbouring S’goon.

      The route for service 51 is way too long unless it get shorten to Clementi or Buona Vista Terminal if it is extended to Punggol.

      51 can’t be extended further. 82 and 107 can merge easily provided both are under the same operator.
