Art in Transit: “PULSE” by Twardzik Ching Chor Leng

Pulse is a network of industrial scale pipes interposed with gleaming and colourful entry and exit points. This self-contained system echoes the flow of energy of energy and resources transferred daily across our urban environment through infrastructures such as highways, electrical grids, water supplies, and the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) system. Just as these systems transport resources and people from one point to another, the body’s systems are the transport for signals, nutrients and oxygen needed by each cell and organ. The proper functioning of these systems relies upon our ability to attend to the needs of each, and to adapt as conditions change over time. The artwork looms as a visual metaphor reflecting on these vital systems, pulsating to keep our body/city alive.
