Temporary Bus Interchange
The site of the Tampines North Bus Interchange was first seen on maps of the Tampines North area published by HDB in tandem with new BTO developments. In response to a media inquiry by 8World in July 2019, a Land Transport Authority (LTA) spokesperson revealed that as plans for the Tampines North Integrated Transport Hub are still in progress, a new Temporary Bus Interchange in Tampines North will be built to meet the transport needs of residents in the new estate (marked as “Interim Bus Interchange” in the accompanying map).
According to the URA Master Plan (2022 revision), the site occupied by Tampines North Bus Interchange is actually zoned for residential use in the future.
The future Tampines North Integrated Transport Hub would be sited just across the road from the current Tampines North Bus Interchange. It is zoned for a mixed-use residential and commercial site and is indicated in blue on the URA Masterplan. Rail connections would be offered via the adjacent Cross Island Line station CR6Â Tampines North. The construction tender for the mixed-use development was awarded to Topaz Residential Pte. Ltd. and Topaz Commercial Pte. Ltd. in July 2023.
The temporary bus interchange will be demolished by the developer of the mixed-use development upon the relocation of Tampines North Bus Interchange to the new site.
In line with LTA naming practices observed since 2018 with the opening of Choa Chu Kang Bus Interchange, the name of the interchange makes no references to it being a temporary or interim facility.
Construction
Contract PT372 – Proposed Design and Construction of Bus Interchange & Associated Works at Tampines North was awarded to W’Ray Construction Pte. Ltd. in January 2020 for a contract sum of about S$12.8 million dollars. Construction was completed in 2022.
The Interchange
Tampines North Bus Interchange is located at the junction of Tampines Street 62 and Tampines North Drive 2. The main vehicle ingress/egress is via Tampines North Drive 2, while a backup vehicle access route leads to Tampines Street 62. Commuters can enter the interchange via access gates along Tampines Street 62.
The interchange serves new residential developments in the vicinity, such as HDB Tampines GreenDew and HDB Tampines GreenCourt.
On 31 October 2022, the LTA announced that the interchange would open on Sunday, 27 November 2022. Services 18 and 129 will be amended from Tampines Concourse to Tampines North on that day, while Service 298 will do so only at a later date, when the bus stops along Tampines Street 62 are ready. Service 298 was extended on 8 January 2023.
LTA has touted commuter-friendly and inclusive commuter facilities, such as barrier-free access routes and toilets, and a dedicated priority queue at each berth. Staff amenities include dedicated staff toilets and a staff lounge. A reverse warning system is also installed to detect the movement of buses from the parking lots into the driveway.

I know it’s impossible but would be better if a new service from Gali Batu via BPJ/WDL to Tampines North using BKE/SLE/TPE and one new service from Sembawang to Tampines North from TTS.
Of course it is impossible, what benefits do you foresee when you want a new service from Gali Batu/Sembawang to Tampines North? Do you intend to make them into an express bus service? I foresee low ridership if such services are implemented.
Please consider profit/loss ratio and the feasibility of such routes for the operating company first.
So confident no profit and low ridership?Singapore already packed with new citizens and foreigners..
SBWTampines North (maybe amend service 167 to skip CBD and serve Tampines North via Lornie Highway rather than completely withdrawing service 167 for the original TEL rationalisation plan)
