Brief History
In December 2019, the construction tender for the bus interchange (Contract PT396 – Proposed Design and Construction of Bus Interchange and Associated Works at Tengah Boulevard) was put up by the Land Transport Authority. This contract was awarded to Tat Hin Builders Pte Ltd in October 2020. The location of the interchange was also indicated within Tengah town maps issued by the Housing and Development Board (HDB) in 2020.
Tengah Bus Interchange opened on Sunday, 21 July 2024. Bus Services 870 & 992, which were loop services, were extended to serve the new interchange and become bi-directional services. A new bus service, 871, was also introduced on the same day, connecting Tengah New Town with Bukit Gombak and Beauty World.
Tengah Bus Interchange has three alighting and six boarding berths, with vehicle access via a signalised intersection with Tengah Boulevard.
Future Plans
The interchange is likely to be an interim facility, as it is zoned for residential use under the URA Master Plan 2019. Another bus interchange is being built to serve Tengah New Town—Tengah Integrated Transport Hub—which is situated adjacent to Tengah MRT Station (Jurong Region Line).
In line with current LTA naming conventions, interim and/or temporary bus interchanges no longer carry the “Temporary” name.

What a bummer, they only have 2 services per boarding berth, which makes the maximum number of services go up to 12 only. This is very little for a new bus interchange serving an entire new town.
First day of Tengah BI operations
Sad there won’t be any service guides 😥
Tengah has 6 sawtooth berths.
Punggol has 5 sawtooth berths.
From here, I infer that Tengah will have around 18 different bus services next time.
Good for the west side singaporeans.
Huat ah!
Honestly some routes might be rerouted to serve tengah either from jth int or buses like svc 174 as a way for tengah commuters to have a more direct route to the city. Or maybe 79 for commuters to get to the jurong industrial estate via jurong town hall rd and bukit batok rd. Maybe incorporate a trunk service that doesnt have the express fare as a substitute to the JRL. Kind of like 970 and 972 in bukit panjang.
Bravo bravo 👏👏👏
Both buangkok ITH and bidadari ITH started construction way earlier than tengah yet tengah managed to complete first.
What are the contractors of buangkok and bidadari doing? Idk.
But what sucks is, idk how much storage buses tts is going to lease, but needless to say, after they lease, not a whole lot left for Buangkok route extension services.
GAS leasing a bulk of buses but not deploying them fully seems to be self-fish and a big waste.
GAS there could be a reason why – certain bus services especially at Punggol cannot cope with overloading it seems. That’s why need more to overcome the overcrowding like 384, 382G/382W as an example.
Nay,GAS leased too much buses…They should dump a few Citaros and get rid 3-4 units of the B2 Volvo B9TL buses.Or my guess they’re preparing for new service at Punggol.
Another reasons why they delayed Bidadari and Buangkok is because Sengkang West Depot haven’t fully operational yet as Hougang Depot is facing parking crunch. If Sengkang W is ready im sure Bidadari will start first.
