The BYD C8 is a fully electric bus manufactured by Chinese company BYD, which specialises in electric vehicles and new energy solutions. The bus design incorporates large-capacity Lithium-Iron-Phosphate batteries which allow the bus to travel 250km on a single charge, under urban road conditions.
For this unit, the bodywork was built by Pioneer Coachbuilders Sdn Bhd in Malaysia.

Although registered in 2021, the unregistered bus was spotted in Singapore as early as 2019.
The bus is registered to HDT Singapore Holding Pte Ltd, which leases the bus out to ComfortDelGro Bus for the electric bus trial in Sentosa.
From 6 October 2021, the electric coach was deployed on various Sentosa Shuttle Bus routes as part of an electric bus trial.
The bus was later redeployed to the NUS Internal Shuttle Bus network from August 2022 to November 2022.
