Bus Service 457 enhances connectivity for commuters travelling between Hougang and Tai Seng MRT Stations during weekday peak hours. Within Hougang, the service calls at stops along Hougang Avenue 5 and 7.

It is a quicker alternative between Hougang and Tai Seng as compared to Bus Service 151, although Service 457 stops only at Tai Seng MRT Station, while Service 151 serves Airport Road. Service 457 plies express between Hougang Ave 7 and Tai Seng MRT, via Tampines Rd, KPE, and Airport Rd.

This limited-stop service is introduced under the Bus Connectivity Enhancement Programme (BCEP). Bus Services 457, 458, and 459 are the first tranche of peak-period limited-stop services to serve the Tai Seng Industrial Area, connecting it with housing estates in the Northeast.

Travel Smart Journeys

This bus service is part of the latest Travel Smart Journeys – North-East Line Scheme, starting at launch (23 March 2026). This scheme incentivises North-East commuters to switch from the North East Line (NEL) to alternative bus routes, to ease congestion.

Registered commuters on the SimplyGo app can earn cashback in the form of e-transport vouchers by boarding & alighting at designated stops during Morning Peak hours.

Kinda curious why 457 is using the KPE stretch…
Following 151 route would had been faster by skipping the bus stops with a bus lane free from traffic most the time till outside SBST Hougang depot.

Kinda expected it to be a 151X, but serving only 2 stops that 151 serves.
No surprise it didnt start from HG INT, since there’s no berths available for it to do so.

But, would existing 151 commuters boarding from HG INT would go to the bus stop across to take the service? No idea, but, 151 demand from HG INT to the last hougang stop of 457 is justified, given how its mostly FTD when it reaches ave 5.

And, bad idea to go via airport rd tbh. The traffic there is simply diabolical during the morning and evening peak hours due to the bad design of the KPE entrance at airport road.

457 should start at Hougang Int and ply Upp S’goon Rd, Hougang Ave 8, Hougang St 61, Hougang Ave 4, Hougang Ave 8 again, Hougang Ave 2 to serve the residential areas of Hougang.
From there, Upp S’goon Rd and then Upp Paya Lebar Rd.
