Bartley MRT Station (CC12) is an underground station along the Circle Line (CCL). It is built underneath Bartley Road, near the How Sun Estate and Maris Stella High School. The architectural design of Bartley station is similar to other CCL Stage 3 stations Lorong Chuan and Marymount.

Construction work for this station was performed in tandem with major improvement works to Bartley Road, which included the construction of grade-separated road interchanges with Upper Serangoon Road and Upper Paya Lebar Road.

Bartley station has two platforms in an island platform arrangement. Just south of Bartley station, a pair of reception tracks branch off to Kim Chuan Train Depot.

Concourse

The station concourse at Basement 1 feature faregates for automatic fare collection and provides access between paid and unpaid areas of the station, with at least one bidirectional wide-swinging gate for the benefit of passengers-in-wheelchairs and those carrying bulky items or travelling with prams. An unpaid walkway runs through the concourse, allowing pedestrians to commute between station exits without having to enter the paid areas of the rail network.

Art in Transit: “The Coin Mat” by Jane Lee

Coins are frequently taken for granted. by many. At Bartley station, artist Jane Lee has created an artwork that celebrates the humble coin – 164,800 one-cent coins are encased within laminated glass panels. At the station entrances, the Coin Mat theme is reinterpreted as a pattern using 5 and 10-cent coins printed on the glass panels.

Civil Defence shelter

Bartley CCL station is one of eleven stations along the Circle Line designated as Civil Defence (CD) shelters, which will be activated in times of national emergency. Apart from reinforced construction, the stations are designed and equipped with facilities to ensure the shelter environment is tolerable for all shelterees during shelter occupation. These facilities include protective blast doors, decontamination facilities, ventilation systems, power and water supply systems and a dry toilet system.

Construction

Circle Line Stage 3 (CCL3) Contract 851A for the construction of Bartley station and associated tunnels was awarded to local company Wan Soon Construction for S$63.5 million
