Toa Payoh MRT Station (NS19) is an underground station along the North South Line (NSL). It is located near the junction of Lorong 1 Toa Payoh and Lorong 2 Toa Payoh.
The station opened in November 1987 as the southern terminus of the NSL, the first section of MRT line to open in Singapore. It is one of two stations serving the Toa Payoh housing estate (the other being Braddell station) and is a transport node for residents of Toa Payoh New Town. It serves residential areas around Toa Payoh Central, along with shopping malls, community amenities and schools in the vicinity. Bus services are offered from Toa Payoh Bus Interchange, connecting to other parts of the estate.

Toa Payoh MRT station has four exits at ground level (A, B, C and D), of which only Exit D offer barrier-free accessibility for the disabled.
Exits A, B and C emerge at Toa Payoh Central, and share a separate single lift access to surface level near Block 500 Lorong 6 Toa Payoh. Passengers heading for Toa Payoh Bus Interchange can use Exit A (end-on berths) or B (sawtooth berths).
