Bishan MRT Depot is an at-grade train depot serving the North South Line (NSL).

The depot is built on floodplains of the Kallang River, covering an area of 300,000 square metres. It contains a central maintenance facility (with train overhaul facilities for trains on the North South Line and East West Line), stabling area designed for 36 trains, and staff training facilities. It is accessed from Bishan Road.

The depot is bordered by Bishan Road, Ang Mo Kio Avenue 1, the Central Expressway (CTE) and the Kallang River. A long test track runs along the depot’s eastern fringe, reaching up to Braddell Road.

Situated between Ang Mo Kio and Bishan stations, there are a total of 3 reception tracks: 2 tracks heading northbound towards Ang Mo Kio station and 1 track heading southbound towards Bishan station.

Future Plans

A contract for the Design and Construction of Stabling and Maintenance Workshop Extension at Bishan Depot (Contract R1012) was announced by LTA in AY2018/19.

Major Incidents

On 23 March 2020, at about 9:20am, Technical Officer Muhammad Afiq Senawi was operating a hydraulic press machine in a Rolling Stock workshop when accident occurred. First-aid was immediately rendered to him and he was then conveyed to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and passed away at the hospital at about 11.20am.
