Service 114 is a residential trunk route linking the housing estates at Buangkok Crescent to the transport node of Buangkok MRT station & Bus Interchange.

The route primarily benefits residents along Buangkok Link and Buangkok Crescent, offering convenient access to Buangkok MRT station. The estate was previously served by Bus Services 101 and 329, both of which connected to Hougang MRT station.

Buses used to layover at Compassvale Bus Interchange prior to its amendment to start and end at Buangkok Bus Interchange with its opening on 1 December 2024.

Extension to Yio Chu Kang

As part of an update on the Bus Connectivity Enhancement Programme (BCEP) by the Land Transport Authority in October 2025, Service 114 is planned to be extended to Yio Chu Kang Bus Interchange by end-2025. This will take effect from 28 Dec 2025.

The extended route would see changes to the stopping points for Service 114 along Buangkok Crescent & Buangkok Link.

In addition, the extended routing provides enhanced connectivity for Buangkok and Sengkang West residents to Yio Chu Kang MRT, Seletar Mall & Fernvale Community Centre and Hawker Centre.

Cancelled Service 101 Extension to Buangkok MRT Station

Originally planned as a route extension for Service 101 from Buangkok Crescent to Buangkok MRT station to take effect from 11 October 2020, the amendment was cancelled following feedback raised by commuters. In particular, concerned was raised regarding the skipping of two bus stops along Buangkok Link as part of the amendment.

In lieu of this planned route extension, Service 114 was introduced from Buangkok MRT Station to loop at Buangkok Crescent instead. No changes were made to existing Bus Services 101 and 329.

On a new info post, service 114A will still terminates at Blk 991A Buangkok link from Buangkok, buses leaving int after 2330 will be renumbered to 114A.

But the weirdest part, 114A will also operate during weekdays peak period. PM peak ok but AM peak seems redundant.

114 needs to extend not only YCK but so woodlands, look at how weak and lacking it is for buangkok residents, only got 329, 101, 114 and those only serve nearby, they dun go far, it is wise and best for lta to take on high consideration on extending 114 to woodlands too, and punggol is another place with not sufficient transport options. Hope they can notify on those lacking transport places like Tengah, Buangkok and Punggol.

The introduction of 114 to be extended to YCK would unfortunately mean exploding this service during peak hours honestly.

Right now, 50, 72, 88 and 159 simply isnt enough during ITE, NYP academic term. Additionally the AMK industrial area. Basically made them all FTD.

114 would ease them honestly. But then, need to rmb 114 itself is already FTD during peak hours for its short distance to Buangkok crescent.

My guess is both directions will turn into Buangkok crescent but then serve opposite bus-stops (Just like how 36 is doing at the suntec fountain). Subsequently, it will ply the newly extended sector of buangkok drive, meets with 50 at YCK and then basically duplicates 50 all the way till blk 502 bus stop)

First SWDEP service to enter YCK interchange in the meantime.

But isn’t there a possibility that 114 will turn right to yck road and then ply the yck Rd all the way to yck int just like 70?

Someone on mothership mentioned the Idea of 114 calling by Fernvale LRT through Fernvale Link and Fernvale road, which I believe helps with connecting passengers to the NSL quicker than the 50 by following 70 by yck rd (and relieving 163 to a certain extent)

The real elephant in the room however, is how they will deal with Buangkok Link and Buangkok Crescent considering the last time they tried getting 101 extended to Buangkok leads to massive backlash and thus the creation of this route.

114 will likely do a loop in Buangkok Crescent and Buangkok Link (in opposite directions) before turning into Buangkok Drive extension towards YCK Road. While I like the idea of detouring to Fernvale which can bring residents greater accessibility to the mall, cc and hawker centre, I doubt this is practical given how close the proposed new bus stops along Buangkok Drive extension are to the T-junctions with Fernvale Link and Fernvale Road, making making right-turning after calling at the bus stops challenging. It would likely follow and duplicate the path of 70 along YCK road thereafter towards YCK interchange. Having said that, it would be interesting to see if LTA planned deviation from bus 70 route e.g. by entering into CTE and exiting to AMK Ave 5 towards YCK (hence a faster route compared to 70 or 50 to reach YCK/AMK estate), or instead of entering AMK Industrial Park 3 (AMK St 64/ 63), head towards AMK Ave 6 (and turn into YCK interchange) or better still, making a detour to Lentor MRT & YCK Market, etc. to bring more direct access between YCK market and Lentor MRT. I would personally prefer it enter AMK Industrial Park 3, but instead of Street 64 (served by bus 70), ply an unserved stretch along Street 65 where there are newer industrial/commercial development there.

There is a possibility, but shall see since the route isn’t publicised yet.

I would think it would likely ply the same route as 50,72,88 and 159 along AMK industrial simply due to the fact they are all DD fleet (Except 159 due to narrow turns and height restriction, which is complimented with more SD instead) and already suffering from heavy demand when ITE, NYP, school and adult workforce all in place.

The 70 direction towards YCK seems to be able to cope by 70 itself, so i don’t see them adding 114 as a possibility to help cope 70. But I do acknowledge 70 towards CBD is exploding during peak hours.

      You are somewhat correct
Based on intel, 114 will indeed do the loop turnaround which allows it to serve opposite bus stops in different directions, then ply the new extended Buangkok Drive. After that however and apparently, 114 is taking the straightest route to YCK MRT, ie via YCK Rd all the way (following Service 70 then 86)

However, I think your idea makes much more sense than simply a duplicate of 70 that LTA is releasing.

As we all know, Service 72 will soon be handed over to Go Ahead Singapore under the Tampines Bus Package. This means all operations of 72 will be based off ECID. However, there is a reason why 72 currently uses a fleet entirely based off SEDEP instead of BNDEP despite it being under Tampines Package. It is due to the need to operate 72A & 72B. These two are extremely high frequency short trips catered to demand from YCK to ITECC & Hougang, thus basing 72 off SEDEP provides the flexibility and convenience to operate these 2 SWT, as the fleet can be deployed easily without major issues
However, once 72 goes to GAS, what will happen to 72A/B? The fleet is under ECID, meaning if they need to deploy buses on 72A & 72B, will they have to make a long drive from ECID all the way to YCK? Eat up buses meant for 72 full route? My suspicions are that they might allow GAS to be a tenant operator in SEDEP, but I think a much more viable solution is utilising the 114 extension. 114 is already high frequency, so having it replace 72A/B should not be a big problem. It saves extra effort of plonking GAS in SEDEP and also for BC driving the buses.

Maybe LTA should consider keeping 72 under Seletar Bus Package instead of Tampines based on the issues you stated.
