Bus Service 405 directly connects Choa Chu Kang Cemetery, Crematorium and Columbariums & Nirvana Memorial Garden with Boon Lay MRT/Bus Interchange, serving Old Choa Chu Kang Road. Buses perform a 3 point turn at the end of Old Choa Chu Kang Road.

This service operates only during specific periods: the Qing Ming Festival, Good Friday, the start of Ramadan, Hari Raya Puasa, Hari Raya Haji, the Deepavali period, and All Souls' Day. The exact operating dates are announced by the bus operator closer to each year's start of service.

During the Singapore SEA Games in June 2015, a special variant of Service 405, known as Service 405M, ran for six days to serve the National Shooting Centre on Old Choa Chu Kang Road, bypassing the Lim Chu Kang Road section of the route.

In October 2025, Service 405 will be amended to the realigned Jln Bahar and skip Lim Chu Kang Road following the closure of part of Lim Chu Kang Road to facilitate the expansion of Tengah Air Base on 8 June 2025. Lost sectors included a unique U-turn point along Lim Chu Kang Road, just before Murai Farmway, where a special "Bus-only" U-turn bay is utilized.

With the realignment of Lim Chu Kang Road ending in 2025 Q2, 975 will amend to a sime route as 405 at Choa Chu Kang Cemetery region. There is a high possibility that 405 will be cancelled or convert to a special departure of 975.

maybe it’s best is covert to full day service to support 172 especially for those going to book in at Civil Defence Academy at Jln Bahar on weekends.

Furthermore, 975 will amend some parts of old cck rd that 405 ply that route. so better for some, can start at 0630 or 0700 and ends at 2100 or 2200. Just my 2 cents.

I agree with extending 405 to daily and extending to LCK road end (or maybe operating only at periods where 975 have high demand) to reduce the load on 975. It also connects to Boon Lay MRT which is more convenient for those living along East-West line as opposed to taking 975 to CCK and transferring at JE (And I think Boon Lay MRT is closer than CCK MRT from LCK).

I am also thinking about the feasibility to extend to Kranji MRT via Neo Tiew Road -> SG Buloh -> Skips bus stops along Kranji Way and Kranji Road to reduce duplication with 925 -> Kranji MRT (Loop). This helps to allow access to Kranji farms and connect LCK to Kranji MRT, which might also be nearer as compared to CCK
