City Direct Service 671 provides residents of Sengkang West with greater connectivity to the CBD. The service provides a travel alternative for commuters who relied on the rail network and feeder buses to and from work. The route incorporates an express sector between Fernvale and the CBD via Yio Chu Kang Rd, CTE, Outram Rd and Cantonment Rd.

This is the twenty-first City Direct service to be introduced under the Bus Service Enhancement Programme (BSEP), which provides more options for commuters using stretches of the existing rail lines that experience persistently high ridership, while the ongoing rail enhancement measures are being implemented.

The tender for this route was called for on 15 April 2016. Free rides were given out to commuters on the first day of service, 17 October 2016.

The route was further enhanced under the Bus Connectivity Enhancement Programme (BCEP) from 11 November 2024, with a route extension to Suntec City via Bayfront.

If the eves of Christmas, New Year’s Day, and Chinese New Year fall on a weekday, the Evening Peak departures will be brought forward to the afternoon. Revised departure times will be provided by the operator closer to the affected date.

Travel Smart Journeys

This bus service is part of the latest Travel Smart Journeys – North-East Line Scheme, starting from 2 January 2025. Eligible commuters who switch to this service can earn cashback in the form of e-transport vouchers.

Thank you for changing to SBS transit which will be on time daily. However many of us taking this bus start work at 8.30 am. We would have to seek to other alternative route now as we were late everyday.

Is it possible to change the departure timings to earlier by 15 mins ?

671 is never on time in the mornings, or MIA one or two buses. However, today all 3 buses didn’t turn up in the morning. What’s wrong with this bus operator? We waited till 8.05 am, the whole bunch of us were all late and have to think of alternative ways to get to work. There is no premium bus at that bus stop and to get to the train station, need to walk 15 mins or take another bus to the station. And to get to town by grab/cab is almost $40 in the morning peak.

What is LTA doing? Can you please check on this bus operator and ensure the frequency of the buses. And is there any way or indication (for example add into the SG Buses App) to inform us as commuters that the buses will not turn up at an earlier time frame, at least, we could plan ahead to walk to the train station or re-route our way to work.

You guys seriously need to look the attitude of your bus driver especially the one driving the last bus everyday – BUS SERVICE 671 (Shaifudin) Malay bus driver.

I was waiting for the bus after work at UIC building bus stop with a group of people. His bus came right in front of us and while all of us were preparing to board, he just happily drove off the bus without even opening the door to pick us up. Hello?! What is the purpose of having a bus stop when your bus driver doesn’t even stop for their passenger when all of us were preparing to board the bus? I have friend on board and I was told that the bus driver was happily chatting and laughing on his phone. So that was the reason why he didn’t bother to open the door to pick us? I wonder if he’s paid to drive a bus or paid to talk on the phone while driving people. That’s dangerous isn’t it?

Apart from this, in the morning, this is also not the first time he was late to pick us up. His bus just MIA in the morning, and the whole group of us were waiting for his bus aimlessly wondering what time he will come. His bus is supposed to reach my stop every morning at around 7:58, however, his bus was nowhere to be seen at 8:10 and all of us had to hop over to take the premium bus instead causing many of us to be late for work.

Please look into the attitude of this driver.

Not sure if the transfer of operation to SBS is any better. The journey time is much longer now. Hope that SBS will really look into its arrival and departure time at each bus stop more accurately. If not, what is the point of it being called express bus service when it is not express at all.

Please educate your driver (vehicle number PC9966L) from CBD towards Sengkang.

I am alighting the bus and about to step out my foot when the driver suddenly closing the door when in fact I am using the front door, just in front of him. This is also not the 1st time incident.

The last time was i was alighting from the rear door, and again he just suddenly closing the door.

Seems like he is always on rush and not even looking at the passengers or at least the rear view mirror to check on passengers to avoid any unforeseen accidents.
