Service 684 offers residents of Brickland and Bukit Batok West improved connectivity to the Central Business District via the AYE, providing a direct travel alternative to commuters who typically rely on the rail network and feeder buses.
Early Plans
Plans for this service were first mentioned by Acting Transport Minister Mr Jeffrey Siow on 8 June 2025, as a City Direct service from Brickland, to be launched by the end of 2026.
In an update on the BCEP released by the Land Transport Authority in February 2026, the service number was confirmed as 684, and was scheduled to be introduced ‘in the coming months’. The update included Bukit Batok West as a catchment area for the service. The route was officially announced on 7 May 2026.

Back to City Direct Services

Great! Can make this bus service 684 ply on weekends also? We can visit our mother in city. Sunday MRT are usually crowded with foreign workers going to the city on their day off. If the service can extend to Saturday and Sunday will be great.
It is a city Direct service so I don’t think it will be extended to operate on weekends
Isn’t it that bus service 451 starts or ends at opposite Blk 816A? Then Why not just amend 451 To Keat Hong Link Like Bus 983/M and 684 then U-Turn back to Original Route?
Why the alignment slightly different at Bukit Batok West Avenue 2 Avenue 5, for the morning and evening trip?
West Scape @ Bukit Batok. PM trip, it makes sense for the bus to calls at bus stop Blk 432A than having residents need to walk through the busy traffic of Bukit Batok Road just to get through to the opposite block
Obviously 684 is SMRT as it starts at Keat Hong Link which is around CCK, and CCK services always use SMRT Buses which is the reason why
Likely replace bus service 982E.
Sorry this bus service will not replace bus service 982E.
982E being renumbered into 649
