probably a cancelled extension of 181 to CCK via Tengah.

I spent some time to measure this. If this 874 route is instead the second extension of 181, the length of 181 would become 14.2 km from Boon Lay Int to Keat Hong CC, and 15.9 km from Keat Hong CC to Boon Lay Int. Total = 14.2 + 15.9 = 30.1 km.

Even 99 before its extension to Joo Koon Int, when it was still running from Clementi Int to Jurong West Street 91 as a loop, had a total route length of only 25.6 km.

I think the consideration may have been that Choa Chu Kang Bus Interchange does not have enough capacity, or the authorities do not want to use the remaining capacity for this bus route, considering that Tengah Bus Interchange still has much available capacity. Because of this, they rather decided to have 874 instead.

    This one 874 (or 873)
One more service to hillview never announce yet (873)
This hillview one even BUDEP BCs knew about since last year, back then they were aware about an upcoming service from Bukit Gombak estate to Hillview MRT, but there’s been no news about it ever since, except the recent leaks that sprung up.

Also, 874 may be looping at Yew Tee (CCK Cres), since multiple rfam buses have been spotted there recently. My hopes is for 874 to adopt an interim arrangement where it serves CCK Int in both directions at present, but when JRL opens it is amended out.

This is the rumoured 874 right? I know its unlikely to happen, but wish they’d assign this route to SMRT instead since CCK is their territory. Can potentially merge this route with 301 and number it 994. Bulim package is getting way too bloated with all these new Tengah trunks.

78, 96, 173, 189 and CLE feeders may get given to Clementi package in future for all we know.

Nope from what I heard Bulim is 96 282 284 285 transfer over to Clementi but operated by UP.
        110 to Sengkang-Hougang.
984 in future will be SMRT.
2 and 36 under Tampines in future.
Well it’s heard only true or not don’t blame me.

110 in WL makes no sense at all, to be fair.

          UPDEP controls KR terminal anyway.

Well, there is already more supply than demand in the Tengah area. This new bus service is just making the oversupply worse. I think we can expect major bus rationalisation in the Tengah area once the Jurong Region Line opens.

It’s a sign that in future 96 and Clementi feeders will be handed over to Clementi bus package once the transition of Serangoon-Eunos is done. UP relieved of more than 30 buses with 105 and 154 going to SMRT.

Well… It’s the transport minister’s territory after all. He himself said that it’s his place and he wants to oversupply transport his estate first.
