Service 950 is a cross-border route connecting Woodlands Regional Centre, Marsiling MRT and Woodlands Town Centre with the border town of Johor Bahru in Malaysia. The route experiences high demand throughout the day and is SMRT’s only cross-border service.
Due to varying traffic conditions at the Causeway, travel times and frequencies may increase significantly when traffic congestion occur.
Despite being a wheelchair-accessible service, wheelchairs are not allowed beyond Woodlands Checkpoint. Hence, wheelchair-bound passengers are currently unable to use this service to cross the border.
Omission of JB Sentral
Bus Service 950 will loop at Johor Bahru Checkpoint and omit JB Sentral Bus Terminal during these periods:
- Weekdays (Mon – Fri) before 8am
- Fridays after 5pm
- Saturdays
- Sundays / Singapore Public Holidays
Cross-Border Procedures
At each checkpoint, passengers have to alight and clear immigration before boarding the bus again. When different bus services are used when arriving at/departing from a checkpoint, this will constitute a transfer for card paying passengers. If the same bus service is used, the journey is resumed. Cash-paying passengers should retain their tickets as proof of payment, and produce them when re-boarding buses at checkpoints.
At Woodlands Checkpoint towards Johor Bahru, a single queue is formed for Bus Services 160/170/170X/950. Passengers will be directed to board whichever bus comes first. This arrangement has been in place since 20 May 2022.
Route Limitations
Buses deployed on cross-border routes must be registered with the Agensi Pengangkutan Awam Darat (APAD), also known as the Land Public Transport Agency (Malaysia).
Currently, only some MAN A22 buses in SMRT Buses fleet are registered with APAD. In accordance with Malaysian regulations, buses must carry relevant documents, fitted with a third brake light at the rear, and attached with Malaysian stickers dictating the legal speed limit. Previously, some Mercedes-Benz O405s and OC500LEs were registered for cross-border operations.

This is the worst, most inefficient bus service ever – probably reflects SMRT standards overall. Why don’t they get out of putting on such a substandard bus service when they can’t even run their core train business properly. Learn from the SBS Transit service 170 and 170x.
why isit that 950 is always the slowest among all the buses in singapore custom? if the company know that theres a issue about this regarding custom jams and all then should do some actions and not leave it
Malaysian ringgit is accepted when boarding the bus in Johor Bahru.
can you carry luggage to the bus ?
Why does this serve Woodlands ave 3?Cant it serve Woodlands Ave 5,2,1?
Well, to be honest, after the loop, driver and passengers are already tired (especially the standing ones). So SMRT is trying its best to shorten the route as much as possible without affecting demand.
The route you suggested incurs an additional 10 minutes or so. Therefore it is not a very feasible idea.
