Service 950 is a cross-border route connecting Woodlands Regional Centre, Marsiling MRT and Woodlands Town Centre with the border town of Johor Bahru in Malaysia. The route experiences high demand throughout the day and is SMRT’s only cross-border service.
Due to varying traffic conditions at the Causeway, travel times and frequencies may increase significantly when traffic congestion occur.
Despite being a wheelchair-accessible service, wheelchairs are not allowed beyond Woodlands Checkpoint. Hence, wheelchair-bound passengers are currently unable to use this service to cross the border.
Omission of JB Sentral
Bus Service 950 will loop at Johor Bahru Checkpoint and omit JB Sentral Bus Terminal during these periods:
- Weekdays (Mon – Fri) before 8am
- Fridays after 5pm
- Saturdays
- Sundays / Singapore Public Holidays
Cross-Border Procedures
At each checkpoint, passengers have to alight and clear immigration before boarding the bus again. When different bus services are used when arriving at/departing from a checkpoint, this will constitute a transfer for card paying passengers. If the same bus service is used, the journey is resumed. Cash-paying passengers should retain their tickets as proof of payment, and produce them when re-boarding buses at checkpoints.
At Woodlands Checkpoint towards Johor Bahru, a single queue is formed for Bus Services 160/170/170X/950. Passengers will be directed to board whichever bus comes first. This arrangement has been in place since 20 May 2022.
Route Limitations
Buses deployed on cross-border routes must be registered with the Agensi Pengangkutan Awam Darat (APAD), also known as the Land Public Transport Agency (Malaysia).
Currently, only some MAN A22 buses in SMRT Buses fleet are registered with APAD. In accordance with Malaysian regulations, buses must carry relevant documents, fitted with a third brake light at the rear, and attached with Malaysian stickers dictating the legal speed limit. Previously, some Mercedes-Benz O405s and OC500LEs were registered for cross-border operations.

When will Service 950 resume operations?
GAS and TTS all don’t have cross-border services. Here is it;
SBST: 160 (170 terminate at Woodlands Int and operate by SMRT)
SMRT: 950
GAS: 430
TTS: 440
No. 170 should not duplicate 856 and 950.
I went to Woodlands bus interchange 4 times but stil don’t have the service guide of bus 950. Any Particular reasons
Svc 950 Should get a double decker bus. It’s really crowded during weekends especially the holidays.
I’m waiting at Woodlands to go to JB,waiting for 950 almost an hour, what the hell is wrong with this bus, people already half dead walking ..idiotic
You’re right. The company can simply register some Volvo B9TL and a few MAN A95 for SPAD
LTA should consider ceasing the operations of Svc 950 from SMRT since the buses seem to take ages to arrive at the checkpoints or let SBS Transit run the service since they have a better track record managing bus services anyway rather than SMRT who can’t even manage their trains efficiently so what can we passengers expect from their bus service although it has the shortest route amongst all the cross border bus services
You try to complain to LTA about this one.. Svc 950 cant do anything at each checkpoint if both checkpoint is congested every weekends.. Weekdays no problem. I try before liao. Use your common sense. What you expect faster service? Don’t forget there is 170A which end only at Woodlands Train Checkpoint then continue back to Queen Street. 160 ply from Jurong East to loop JB Sentral , 170 from Queen Street to Larkin Terminal then 170X from Kranji MRT to JB Sentral..
Take note 950 use only 15 registered bus with SPAD. 170 and 170X use only 45 registered bus with SPAD whereas 160 use only 15 to 20 registered bus with SPAD. Take note SPAD is from malaysia which allow bus to take passenger to JB leh.. What you want from LTA? LTA cannot do anything with SPAD. Only SMRT and SBS need to get bus to registered with SPAD.. All bus registered with SPAD is old bus model like first batch bus only.. You notice why new bus model is not allowed into malaysia even 170A use new bus model.
roughly 20.
For SBST, they are trying to prioritise:
1. Last NAC bus – Volvo B10M Mark II
2. First A/C bus – Volvo B10M Mark III
3. Last step-entrance bus – Volvo B10M Mark IV (DM3500)
4. First WAB bus – Scania K230UB
5. Last diesel bus in Singapore – Mercedes-Benz O530 Citaro and MAN NL323F, only if it is from UPDEP
SMRT do not have a choice. It is just following the coincidence of all the routes – O405, then followed by MAN NL323F.
Not a good idea
