Bus Service 950 is a cross-border trunk route linking Woodlands Town Centre and Marsiling MRT station in Singapore with Johor Bahru, Malaysia. Operated by SMRT Buses since its introduction in September 2004, it is currently the operator’s only cross-border bus service and experiences consistently high passenger demand throughout the day, particularly during peak periods.
Due to varying traffic conditions along the Johor–Singapore Causeway, travel times and service frequencies may vary significantly, especially during periods of heavy congestion such as weekday peak hours, weekends, public holidays and festive seasons.
Although Service 950 is operated using wheelchair-accessible buses, wheelchairs are not permitted beyond Woodlands Checkpoint. As a result, wheelchair users are currently unable to use the service for cross-border travel.
Cross-Border Procedures
At both the Singapore and Malaysian checkpoints, passengers are required to alight from the bus to clear immigration procedures before continuing their journey. Card-paying passengers who re-board the same service will have their journey treated as a continuation, while boarding a different service at either checkpoint will be treated as a transfer under the fare system. Cash-paying passengers are required to retain their tickets and present them when re-boarding after immigration clearance.
At Woodlands Checkpoint towards Johor Bahru, the queues for Services 160, 170, 170X and 950 are combined to form a single common queue. Passengers will be directed to board the first available bus regardless of service number. This boarding arrangement has been in place since 20 May 2022.
Fares
Service 950 charges distance-based fares in accordance with Singapore’s standard public transport fare structure.
When boarding in Malaysia, cash payment in Malaysian ringgit is accepted at a one-to-one numerical equivalence with Singapore dollars. For example, the cash fare from Johor Bahru Checkpoint to Woodlands Temp Int is S$2.30 (as of December 2025), and a cash payment of RM2.30 is also accepted. Passengers using contactless payment modes are charged in Singapore dollars only, regardless of boarding location.
Route Limitations
Buses deployed on cross-border services are required to be registered with Malaysia’s Agensi Pengangkutan Awam Darat (APAD). Currently, Service 950 is operated only by MAN A22 buses registered with APAD. In accordance with Malaysian regulations, these buses are required to carry relevant cross-border documentation, be fitted with a third brake light, and display Malaysian speed limit decals.
In earlier years, selected Mercedes-Benz O405 and Mercedes-Benz OC500LE buses were also registered and used for cross-border operations on the service.

When will Service 950 resume operations?
GAS and TTS all don’t have cross-border services. Here is it;
SBST: 160 (170 terminate at Woodlands Int and operate by SMRT)
SMRT: 950
GAS: 430
TTS: 440
No. 170 should not duplicate 856 and 950.
I went to Woodlands bus interchange 4 times but stil don’t have the service guide of bus 950. Any Particular reasons
Svc 950 Should get a double decker bus. It’s really crowded during weekends especially the holidays.
I’m waiting at Woodlands to go to JB,waiting for 950 almost an hour, what the hell is wrong with this bus, people already half dead walking ..idiotic
You’re right. The company can simply register some Volvo B9TL and a few MAN A95 for SPAD
LTA should consider ceasing the operations of Svc 950 from SMRT since the buses seem to take ages to arrive at the checkpoints or let SBS Transit run the service since they have a better track record managing bus services anyway rather than SMRT who can’t even manage their trains efficiently so what can we passengers expect from their bus service although it has the shortest route amongst all the cross border bus services
You try to complain to LTA about this one.. Svc 950 cant do anything at each checkpoint if both checkpoint is congested every weekends.. Weekdays no problem. I try before liao. Use your common sense. What you expect faster service? Don’t forget there is 170A which end only at Woodlands Train Checkpoint then continue back to Queen Street. 160 ply from Jurong East to loop JB Sentral , 170 from Queen Street to Larkin Terminal then 170X from Kranji MRT to JB Sentral..
Take note 950 use only 15 registered bus with SPAD. 170 and 170X use only 45 registered bus with SPAD whereas 160 use only 15 to 20 registered bus with SPAD. Take note SPAD is from malaysia which allow bus to take passenger to JB leh.. What you want from LTA? LTA cannot do anything with SPAD. Only SMRT and SBS need to get bus to registered with SPAD.. All bus registered with SPAD is old bus model like first batch bus only.. You notice why new bus model is not allowed into malaysia even 170A use new bus model.
roughly 20.
For SBST, they are trying to prioritise:
1. Last NAC bus – Volvo B10M Mark II
2. First A/C bus – Volvo B10M Mark III
3. Last step-entrance bus – Volvo B10M Mark IV (DM3500)
4. First WAB bus – Scania K230UB
5. Last diesel bus in Singapore – Mercedes-Benz O530 Citaro and MAN NL323F, only if it is from UPDEP
SMRT do not have a choice. It is just following the coincidence of all the routes – O405, then followed by MAN NL323F.
Not a good idea
