Introduced on Sunday, 24 September 2023, the route extends the former Bus Service 160M which looped at Bukit Batok West Ave 5. Bus Service 993 loops at Bukit Batok West Ave 8 and Bukit Batok Road, serving the new housing estate of West Scape @ Bukit Batok.

According to bus service posters at launch, Bus Service 993 will also serve a new bus stop along Bukit Batok West Ave 8 (43799 – Blk 432A) in the future, next to the West Scape @ Bukit Batok BTO development.
