Double-Deckers for Choa Chu Kang and Woodlands Feeders

Since Sunday, 16 December 2018, Double-Decker Buses have been deployed on Choa Chu Kang Feeder Bus Services 300, 301, 302, and Woodlands Feeder Bus Services 911, 912 and 913 (formerly referred to as Intratown).

The double-decker buses replace retiring articulated / bendy buses that were once the backbone of SMRT’s Feeder and Intratown services. Articulated buses offer better passenger movement, allowing for quicker boarding and alighting activities as compared to double-deckers. However, double-deckers being favoured in replacing the retiring Mercedes-Benz O405G buses as they take up less road space. Only 40 MAN A24 articulated buses were procured by SMRT in recent years, a far cry from the 315 Mercedes-Benz O405G buses brought in by then Trans-Island.

Earlier in April 2018, double-deckers were deployed on Woodlands Feeder Bus Services 900, 901 and 903 as well.

With the exception of Services 307, 904 & 944 which only use single-decker buses and Service 902 with articulated buses, all other feeder bus services under SMRT have been deployed with double-decker buses.

307 is single deck only, i think because of narrow roads along Teck Whye Lane

300 also stopped deploying double decker buses due to the demand i think
