Renumbering of Express Bus Service 971E to Trunk Bus Service 971

On Monday, 31 August 2020, as part of the modified Downtown Line 2 Bus Service Rationalisation plan:
- Express Bus Service 971E will be renumbered to Trunk Bus Service 971
- Amendment of route to start / end at Bukit Panjang Ring Road instead of Bukit Panjang Temporary Bus Park
- Amendment of route to serve Pending Road & Petir Road
- Amended to serve all bus stops along Stevens Road & Bras Basah Road
In addition, operating hours during Weekday Morning & Evening Peak hours (except Public Holidays) will also be extended.

Note: In an update from SMRT on 28 Aug 2020, the first bus timing for Service 971 at Bukit Panjang Ring Road (Blk 602) would be changed to 06:15 instead of 06:30.
The modified plans come after the controversy over Bus 700 withdrawal and Bus 171 & 972 amendment which was supposed to take effect on Sunday, 16 August 2020.
