Tampines North Temporary Bus Interchange

Tampines North Temporary Bus Interchange is an upcoming bus interchange at Tampines North, situated along Tampines Street 62. It is scheduled for completion by 2022, in tandem with upcoming residential developments in Tampines North.

Construction

Contract PT372Proposed Design and Construction of Bus Interchange & Associated Works at Tampines North was awarded to W’Ray Construction Pte. Ltd. in January 2020 for a contract sum of about 12.8 million dollars.

Temporary Bus Interchange

In a response to a media inquiry by 8World in July 2019, an LTA spokesperson revealed that as plans for the Tampines North Integrated Transport Hub are still in progress, a new Temporary Bus Interchange in Tampines North will be built to meet the transport needs of residents in the new estate.

The Tampines North Temporary Bus Interchange (marked as “Interim Bus Interchange” in the map below), will be built on a site marked for Residential Housing near to the proposed Integrated Transport Hub, and will serve as Tampines North Bus Interchange until the mixed-use residential and commercial site with an Integrated Transport Hub development is completed.

The temporary bus interchange will be bounded by Tampines North Drive 2 to the south and Tampines Street 62 to the east.

The temp int/ITH won’t be that big either just nice to cater 9 service with 24 parking lots.
Service 8/18/38/129/513 can start from here with 39 & 298 start from the main Int

There are more new citizens(From india) and young couple staying that side in future..Reasonable to make a temp int first before making a conclusion where the ITH is which is near to the future Tampines North MRT..We wouldnt want another Bukit Merah which is far from MRT.Who knows Tampines Concourse will close down?

Bukit Merah was built in the early 1980s even before MRT came about. To decommission it would be quite impractical given the number of routes that originate from there. If Harbourfront could accommodate most of them it would mean half the problem solved.

What if, that is actually a permanent bus interchange, rather than a temporary one? Cuz, Tampines North Bus Interchange is after all subset of the main Tampines Bus Interchange. One town unlikely will have two Integrated Transport Hub. The Tampines North Bus Interchange is likely going to be an open-air bus interchange like the new Choa Chu Kang Bus Interchange. What matters is that there is going to be the Tampines North Bus Interchange. This is the most cost effective.

Why is the actual Tampines North ITH so far away from the Tampines North Cross Island Line MRT Station? (as seen on the video at the Channel 8 news website) Perhaps the government may want to chose another site for the actual Tampines North ITH in future, so that the ITH is next to the Cross Island Line MRT Station.

This is an absolute waste of money and land space. Its already ridiculous to have 2 interchanges in the same district. Making things worse now 3?!?!

Tbh, that area in the picture, is currently served by 68, which would only take 5 minutes to tampines int. If demand strong, just add in few more routes into the area (Note that sengkang – Tampines route 27 is quite popular and pax from sengkang area tend to stand 20-30minutes since DD not allowed). Service 164 should Originates from Compassvale Int, passes by sengkang secondary, towards rivervale, then pass by all the residential area (S86 route), towards TPE, then tampines go around those stops 68 is currently serving, before heading towards pasir ris.
