Bus Service 26 is a inter-town route between Toa Payoh and Bedok, passing through Bendemeer, Geylang Bahru, Kallang, Geylang, Paya Lebar and Eunos. The route duplicates the East-West Line between Kallang and Bedok, a sector also shared by Service 2, 67 and many more routes over shorter sectors of Sims Avenue and Changi/Geylang Road.

With multiple parallel routes, demand for this service is low to moderate during offpeak hours between Kallang and Bedok, and hence mainly serves as a route for Toa Payoh and Geylang Bahru residents heading to Sims Avenue and Geylang and a supplementary route in other areas. During peak hours, the route compliments well with heavy demand between Kallang and Bedok.

Route Amendment (12 June 2016)

26chaicheeBus Service 26 was amended to serve Chai Chee estate from 12 June 2016, serving 5 pairs of new bus stops along Chai Chee Drive and Chai Chee Street. With this amendment, Bus Service 26 will no longer call at Bus Stops 84021 & 84029, New Upp Changi Rd – Blk 32 & Opp Blk 32 respectively as well at Bus Stops 84011 & 84019, New Upp Changi Rd – Chai Chee Ind Pk & Opp Chai Chee Ind Pk respectively.

Previously, only Townlink Bus Service 222 & Peak Period Short Service 222P served Chai Chee estate.

Wise amendment for a stretch with several parallel routes. Can also look into amending a route that makes a loop at Jln Kembangan, calling at the svc 42 1st/last stop, in the direction towards town area to better serve Lengkong Tiga flats & link to Kembangan MRT.

Good to have service 26 amended, as there are multiple parallel routes! Plus those at Chai Chee can also get to Geylang Serai or Bendemeer in one bus trip.

I bet TCJ pushed for this. Chai Chee Dr used to be served by Route 222 in only one direction.
