The CRRC eD12 electric double-decker bus has started operations on Bus Service 83 today, 16 January 2026.
The bus is now halfway through its 6-month trial, having previously started revenue service on 16 October 2025, operating on Bus Service 118.
The article was originally published as CRRC eD12 registered to Go-Ahead Singapore
Registered as SG4015U to Go-Ahead Singapore on 28 July 2025, the bus was first spotted conducting road tests on 29 July 2025.
Displayed at the Singapore International Transport Congress and Exhibition last year, the bus is one of the 3 electric double-decker buses featuring the three-door, two-staircase configuration designed to enhance commuter flow. Similar 3-door 2-staircase electric double-decker trial buses have been designed for the Singapore market by other manufacturers, including Yutong, BYD and Zhongtong, in preparation for the major electric bus contract of 360 single-deck buses and 300 double-deck buses called this year.
The CRRC eD12 is the first of its kind to be registered for road trials in Singapore. The rims have been changed and treeguards have been added to the upper deck. Apart from minor cosmetic differences, the exterior of the bus remains largely similar. It features a special SG Bus livery with a heartbeat line diagram with a blue-green background, seemingly inspired by Hong Kong’s Kowloon Motor Bus “Heartbeat of the City” livery. Roof-mounted solar panels are also seen atop the bus.
Previously, CRRC also trialled a single-decker 3-door CRRC TEG6125BEV03 bus with Go-Ahead Singapore. After revenue service trials lasting over a year, the bus was reused and converted to a mobile mammogram bus (MammoXpress).
The CRRC eD12 is expected to enter revenue service trials soon, likely on on Bus Services 83 and 118Â which also uses a fleet of electric Yutong E12DD buses and 3-door MAN A95 buses. The bus was spotted at various locations along the routes on 29 July 2025, including Changi Business Park, outside Temasek Polytechnic, and inside Punggol and Sengkang Bus Interchanges.

Either 965 or 168 has to takeover 83’s route. 83 short routes doesn’t serve too much areas, it would be wise enough for land transport minister to look into which bus service that is suitable to extend there. Punggol even after many years, MRT is very packed. Buses are quite limited and they only go nearby towns, and dun go too far, Punggol is going to have many educational schools and now the current SIT students actually stay far from there, not all but is an increasing size. Punggol transport needs to really buck up. I am not trying to irritate the MoT and LTA, I want them to be informed about connectivity in Punggol and Tengah too. New towns or old towns.
62 is a better candidate for this bus
118 by far best candidate, wasted on 83. BTW, will it continue to operate on 118?
Service 3 better… 83 kinda wasted so short
