Express Bus Service 167e was a Limited-stop Express Bus Service which offered quicker journeys for commuters at Sembawang MRT, Canberra Road and Sembawang Road, linking them with the Central areas of Newton, Orchard, Bras Basah, Raffles Place and Shenton Way. Operating at selected hours on weekdays, except public holidays, it only calls at selected bus stops served by its parent Bus Service 167, and charges Express Fares as a result. Buses layover at Shenton Way Bus Terminal.
In between Sembawang Road and Newton, the bus plies an express sector along the Seletar Expressway (SLE), Central Expressway (CTE) and Moulmein Road in both directions. The route operates at 20-minute intervals during peak hours and at 30-minute intervals off peak.
When introduced on 25 November 2018, Express 167e was the ninth new route to be introduced under the Bus Contracting Model (BCM) after Express 960e, as well as the fifth limited-stop service to operate daily (after 12e, 147e, 851e and 960e).
Service Reduction & Withdrawal
Along with several other express services, operating hours for Express 167e was revised from 9 February 2020, only operating on Weekdays, except Public Holidays. In addition, trips from Sembawang Bus Interchange would operate till 6:30 pm, while trips from Anson Road only start operations at 12:30 pm.
After over 2 years of operations, Express 167e was withdrawn on 14 December 2020 due to low demand. The last trips on 11 December 2020 were performed by SMB1517E (towards Shenton Way, departing 1830hrs) and SMB302P (towards Sembawang, departing 2330hrs).

The prob with this service 167e is it shld have been made to express from khatib camp onwards via yishun ave 1 and lentor ave to the CTE. Instead of going to upp thomson road. Than maybe ridership would have been better.
167M better..SBW loop @ Orchard Rd..
Most of people in Sembawang will normally take North South Line to Orchard area, 167 is more for people living along Sembawang Road & Upper Thomson Road, that’s where they needed to have a bus link to Orchard by the way.
And for 167M, there is no need to have it at this moment. But since 162 & 167 can be duplicating much, maybe will see how whether 167 can integrate 162’s sectors partially. Now I don’t know. In the meantime, 167 is already good enough.
I believe both 167 and 980 later on, will be in the radar to be discontinued once TEL is fully open. They really focus on places where 167, 980 are usually serving that are in higher demand and once when they see from stats that lower and lower people are taking it then they will do remove it completely once they feel it is somewhat justifiable.
To add salt in the wound, if there is a MRT breakdown, we really don’t have any other buses that go straight into Sembawang without transferring a lot of buses and that itself can be irritating to say the least… Hopefully with the new residences in Canberra, there will be some new or existing buses that can be extended into our territory to let us have some options to go places without the need of using MRT.
In fact, 167 was going to be discontinued under TEL3 rationalisation, but it was cancelled. 980 however got boosted.
167M will be wasteful, plus it was only available during COVID circuit breaker mainly due to essential healthcare services.
Sad thing to hear–167e is going to be discontinued:(
Sooner or later it would have fallen victim to TEL.
Would have imagined this bus being operated by Tower Transit
