Service 34 is an inter-town route serving between Punggol, Tampines and Changi Airport. As the only route spanning Tampines East and West (excluding feeder services) and few duplicating routes, this service is also important route for travelling within the estate. From Tampines Central, Service 27 serves as a much faster alternative to Changi Airport by skipping Tampines East.
With strong demand between Punggol Coast and Tampines Central, Short-Trip Service 34A plies the sector during the morning peak hours and empty buses are added to the route from Tampines Central towards Punggol Coast during evening peak hours.
Extension to Punggol Coast
In tandem with the opening of the Punggol Coast Bus Interchange on 29 June 2025, Service 34 was extended from Punggol Temp Int to Punggol Coast Int via Punggol Central, Sumang Walk, Sumang Link & Punggol Way.
A timing trial was done with Member of Parliament (MP) for Punggol GRC Ms Sun Xueling and staff from the Land Transport Authority & Go-Ahead Singapore prior to the extension, in response to feedback from residents on whether the extended Service 34 could still serve Punggol Bus Interchange. The trial found that the detour is not feasible, as it would add an additional 7 to 10 minutes of travelling time and 10 cents to the bus fare for commuters to/from the extended sector. This was due to additional traffic lights from the road works for the Cross Island Line Punggol Station. The trial details and results were shared in a social media post by MP Ms Sun Xueling in early June 2025.
Potential Express Variant
In a social media post on 29 June 2025, MP Ms Sun Xueling shared that she is exploring the introduction of an express variant of Service 34. Further details will be provided in due course.
Changi Airport
Service 34 serves Changi Airport Terminals 3, 1, 2 & 4 in order.
Changi Airport Passenger Terminal Buildings (PTBs) 1, 2 and 3 have their bus stops integrated into their basement levels, which also serves as a cargo loading and unloading bay. Security checks for any unattended or suspicious articles are carried out before a bus enters Terminals 1, 2 and 3. Bus Captains may take a short toilet break at Terminal 2. Because of height restrictions, double-decker buses are unable to enter Changi Airport basement.
Occasionally when Changi Airport basement is closed, buses will be diverted to the departure hall along T1/T2/T3 Departure Drive where a temporary bus stop will be set up.
Announcements for passengers to inform the Bus Captain if they see any suspicious person or article are played on board public buses at Changi Airport as well.

Back to Bus Services
Driver Bus No. 34 from Tampines to Punggol on 27 February 2020, Bus stop blk 206 Tampines @4:45PM :- Terrible service. Bus driver no. 34 asked my 9yr old son to get out the bus this afternoon because my son tap the ezlink card & was unsuccessful. So my son thought no money in the card hence he wanted to take out his wallet to pay cash but the bus driver had no patience at all and asked him to get out of the bus. Its my son FIRST TIME trying to take a bus on his own! Imagined his sadness being thrown out of the bus! He CRIED! Oh my god how can a bus driver be so heartless to a primary school boy!
Hi,
I would like to add a comment about the history of service 34. Before it was introduced as a route between Punggol and Changi Airport, it was originally plying between Bedok Interchange and Changi Airport. At that time, it duplicated exactly the portion of bus 24’s route from Bedok MRT station onwards. It also had limited operating times (only on weekdays IIRC). I believe there was also a small period of suspension (i.e. no bus 34 at all) before being reinstated as the route in 2005.
I’m not sure if you can find information regarding this easily, but I might be able to dig up an old Transitlink bus guide that shows this. That’s all, and thanks!
I took Bus 34 at Punggol Road beside Blk 103B today (22 Mar) about 10.35am Along the way from Ikea, Tampinese GIANT toward United World College the bus started ” to drag slowly” & don’t seems to travel at the usual normal speed. It made several stops although there is no one at the Bus stops flagging the bus for boarding !! This continue along the way to the new Sports HUB. There is totally NO urgency showed by the driver (BUS NO> 6503) to move faster.
At the Bus no. toward Blk 141 — agitated passengers pressed the bell to alight & at least a few complained that it is an attempt to prolong his working hours ? Oblivious to many of us who is on our way to Offices or workplace ! Can some thing be done — Not to drag the bus to a very agonising experience !
First arrival of bus service 34 is stated on bus timetable to arrive at Blk 863 Tampines Avenue 5 bus stop at 6.31am on weekdays. Nevertheless, the bus has always arrived after 6.45am. Students and working adults who stay at Tampines Avenue 5 and have to go to Punggol have to wait so long for the bus service to arrive? Also, isn’t there supposed to have more frequency of buses in the morning to cater to the needs of your customers?
Your bus 34 said is arriving at 11.17 shown at punggol interchange timing screen, but waited 15 min still not arriving and skipped to 11.31pm , why this happpen? Nonsense.
