Service 855 is an inter-town route serving between the housing estates of Yishun, Farrer, Bukit Merah and Lower Delta, and the suburban areas of Lornie and Upper Thomson, connecting them to HarbourFront. The route is frequented as a popular connection between various housing estates, notably between Yishun – Upp Thomson and Bukit Merah – HarbourFront. Its sector between Bukit Merah, Lower Delta and HarbourFront is well received due to high passenger demand and lack of alternative routes.

I’m so happy to use the Alexander Dennis Enviro500!
It’s as if TTS has a lot of Mercedes-Benz OC500LEs
Every time the bus comes it is a OC500LE
Like all the units of the Mercedes-Benz OC500LEs are owned by TTS
Those OC500LEs which went over to TTS were mainly ex-SMRT AMDEP ones which is a minority. SMRT still got majority of the OC500LEs and they can be found running mainly on KJDEP routes like 172, 176, 975, 985 etc. At times they do run on 178 and 187 as well.
They all throw away their OC from 853 and spam them on 855. We have opposite problems on 853M no OC at all.

The waiting time for this bus is ridiculous
Bus 188 and 963 are in smrt, serving HarbourFront interchange and have the suffixes E’s & R’s. Why don’t bus 855 also have these?
It depends of the bus package of the services
855 demand is tentatively low eventhough they are not duplicative. 855 mostly plies low-density housing besides Bukit Merah and Yishun. Possibly, because Yishun had a direct to HarbourFront by interchanging for NEL via Dhoby Ghaut.
Unlike 188 & 963, the demand is high because of convenient directions between CCK/Bukit Batok West (188) & Woodlands/Bukit Panjang/Bukit Batok East (963) respectively as they don’t have other routes and lack of transfer, causing Transfer hassles. But very good question!
188E and 963E are weekday peak hour limited stop services with terminating points similar to its parent services.
188R and 963R are alternate weekend routes that plies into RWS instead of terminating at Harbourfront. Currently they are not in operation.
