LTA Launches Tender for Electric Bus Chargers & Charging System (2025)

On 6 November 2025, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) called a tender for Electric Vehicles Charging System for Electric Buses (Reference No. BD405) on the government procurement platform GeBIZ.

This is the second mass procurement for electric bus chargers to support LTA’s growing Electric Bus fleet.

Chargers & Locations

In response to inquiries from Lianhe Zaobao, LTA mentioned that these chargers would be liquid-cooled plug-in chargers, which are equipped with a charging station management system. This enables charging to be optimised based on an individual bus’ State of Charge (SoC), as well as a bus’ deployment schedule.

In addition, LTA also revealed that chargers under this tender will be installed at:

Previous Tenders

Previously, Contract BD401 Electric Vehicles Charging System (EVCS) for Electric Buses was awarded in November 2023. This tender called for the installation of 360 kW CCS2 direct current (DC) chargers at Sengkang WestEast Coast, and Gali Batu Bus Depots.

Back in October 2018, procurement contracts for electric bus chargers were awarded together with the electric buses (Contract PT323), in which plug-in chargers were installed at Bulim, Loyang, and Seletar Bus Depots, and pantograph chargers were installed at Bukit Panjang & Bedok Bus Interchanges.

Kim Chuan and all upcoming new depots will have electric chargers and you don’t confuse others can? Pasir Panjang to Bedok how far and you want those east side BCs to travel all the way from South to East just to satisfy your assumption? My brother works for LTA and I knew my stuff more than you.
You think LTA is so dumb ah to add more dead mileage?

Because UPD is slated for demolishment in the near future. The land it is situated on isnt zone for transport.

The replacement depot is either Tuas or Tengah. Highly likely suspected is Tengah while Bulim gets Tuas.

Mandai is chosen because its fixed, the train depot is already there. Makes no sense for it to move like what others stated

As reported in the media, LTA will build a new Pair Panjang bus depot to replace the current Ulu Pandan bus depot, which is slated for demolition in the near future. However there’s no news about any replacement for the existing Bukit Batok bus depot, which is small, very old and outdated.

If you care to see SMRT Ulu Pandan Depot there are plans for expansion and a new multi-storey bus depot.

There is no confirmation about which depot it is replacing. The news brought up UPD only because it is stated the site would expire in Dec 2025.

Pasir Panjang, as I stand, might be replacement for BNDEP.

All of these are my speculations, there is no official confirmation as to which depot is replacing which. But given how MANDAI is getting chargers, they are adamant each operator will operate electric bus.

SBST – Sengkang west (Probably why this package isnt getting renewed)
          SMRT – Gali Batu
          Go ahead – Upcoming ECID

Only remaining is TTS not getting any.

I thought Kim Chuan would have, but I cant find any news stating KCD having electric chargers installed.

If you talk about big scale of EV bus operation yes but for smaller scale Loyang and Bulim already has 22 chargers.
