The Interchange:
Plans for the interchange were first mooted as part of the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA)’s 2019 Draft Masterplan and also in the Land Transport Master Plan 2040. The interchange would be sited within the Punggol Digital District, Singapore’s pilot Enterprise District comprising JTC’s mixed-use developments, and the Singapore Institute of Technology’s (SIT) new campus.
The bus interchange would be developed by JTC Corporation, the statutory board that develops Singapore’s industrial land. Within the PDD, the interchange is sited at ground level just west of Punggol Coast MRT station (designated JTC Parcel CC1 in planning diagrams), a business park development comprising PDD Towers 1, 2 and 3 (later named Towers 80, 82 and 84).
The interchange is bounded by Sentul Walk to the west, Punggol Way to the north, the Punggol Heritage Trail (former Punggol Road) to the east, and Campus Boulevard to the south. It is integrated with both Punggol Coast Mall and Punggol Coast MRT.
The main vehicle ingress/egress route at Punggol Coast ITH is via a signalised junction along Sentul Walk, with backup access leading to Punggol Way.
The opening of the interchange was announced on 20 May 2025. On 29 June 2025, the interchange opened to commuters with the extension of Bus Services 34 and 117/117M from Punggol Interchange. New routes and further enhancements to bus services will be implemented progressively in tandem with the completion of new developments in Punggol.

Pre-opening name change
The Land Transport Authority referenced the name ‘Punggol North Bus Interchange’ in a travel guide for residents of Punggol Point Woods housing estate (dated September 2023).
However, in June 2024, the operator poster for the amendment of Service 84 indicates that the interchange is named “Punggol Coast ITH”. Locality maps at the newly opened Teck Lee LRT Station also referenced the future bus interchange as “Punggol Coast”.

Back to Bus Interchanges and Terminals

Hi everyone, as a Punggol North resident, I do have a few suggestions on future services for Punggol Coast ITH, I know some may not seem reasonable but hear me out:
The first bus service I want to introduce is 383, I know that it is in the planning board for LTA, but I have a suggestion for this route. For bus 383, it can be introduced to serve the future soon to be developed Canal district. This bus service by this route: Punggol Coast ITH>Punggol Way>New Punggol Road>Punggol North Avenue>(and then the central road along the canal district when it develops)>Punggol Coast Road>New Punggol Road>Punggol Way>Punggol Coast ITH
This would be great for future residents as they move into Punggol Canal District in the coming years as it continues to soon be developed and it would provide a direct link for the residents to reach Punggol Coast, and as those roads develop, 386 can be amended to serve that road instead of relying on U-turns for the route.
Second is feeder service 385(or 387, 388, 389.. Whatever from this sequence) This could be used to serve the Waterway West, Matilda and Punggol North Districts. My route suggestion for this is as follows: Punggol Coast ITH> Sentul Walk> Punggol Way> New Punggol Road> Northshore Drive> Northshore Link> Punggol Way> Sumang Link> Sumang Walk> Sumang Lane> Sumang Crescent> Punggol Field> Sumang Walk> Sumang Link> Punggol Way> Northshore Walk> Northshore Drive> New Punggol Road> Punggol Way> Sentul Walk> Punggol Coast ITH.
This would bring an additional and useful link for those living in Northshore, Sumang and Matilda and bring better connectivity for future residents in planned HDB developments in Sumang, Matilda and Northshore. It would also reduce the strain on Bus 382G, W, 384, 34 and 104, in respective locations and bring them another alternative to these bus services. Currently 34 serves Sumang, 104 serves Matilda and Northshore, this feeder gives early morning commuters especially in Sumang and Northshore another bus service that they can use.
My opinion for these 2 services is that they can utilise Berth 1 fully. As for services 104, 34, 117/M can remain where they are, Bus 44 since its a peak hour service only and heavily replicates 34, it can be merged with the same line for 34, like how a normal trunk is merged with an express trunk route at a berth.
Now this would leave us with space for 5 more bus routes that can be introduced to link Punggol to other parts of town these are my suggestions:
Service 108 can be introduced to link Punggol Coast to the Central Business District and can terminate at Kampong Bahru Bus Terminal, if towards Shenton Way: Punggol Coast ITH> Sentul Walk> Punggol Way> New Punggol Road> Punggol North Avenue> Punggol East> Sengkang East Drive> Upper Serangoon Road> Upper Aljunied Road> Geylang Road> Kallang Road> Victoria Street> New Bridge Road> Kampong Bahru Road> Kampong Bahru Bus Terminal. And if coming back: Kampong Bahru Bus Terminal> Same route but Northbound through Sims Ave instead of Geylang, but same route until Punggol Coast> Punggol Coast ITH.
This route would be a direct link for those who wish to travel to the CBD and provide an all day viable service to the MRT which can also possibly reduce overload on the North East Line at most times of the day. And it would link people to very important destinations along the way that would sometimes be tedious by MRT.
Another Service maybe numbered service 1 can also be introduced to serve Punggol Coast to Pasir Ris depending on demand.
Another service too can also be introduced and that is a bus route from Punggol Coast to Woodlands ITH. This how the route can kind of be done?: Punggol Coast> Sentul Walk> Punggol Way> Sumang Link> Sumang Walk> Seletar South Link> Seletar Link> TPE> SLE> Lentor Ave> Yishun Ave 2> Canberra Link> Sembawang Way> Woodlands Ave 7> Woodlands Ave 6> Woodlands Ave 5> Woodlands ITH. Then the same route back.
These are some suggestions, some maybe may not be so attracrive but could benefit many very heavily. And I am one of the many Punggol Residents who wish to see more future services serving Punggol. In fact even a bus service could be introduced for SIT students living in the West to reach Punggol Coast or at least halfway where they could easily switch to a bus service. There are many possibilities and all I hope is for this place to be well connected by public transport to increase the appeal and viability of it. And as a transit lover or enthusiast, I definitely would love to contribute in planning our bus networks.
Thank you🙂
Correction: Bus 108 can terminate at Shenton Way
When can Punggol East have bus service directly to woodlands? Many years no improvements for Punggol East.
I suggest a route: Punggol Coast – Punggol North Ave – Punggol East – Punggol Drive – EXPRESSWAY – Woodlands Ave 1, 6, 7 and 12. This would enhance better connectivity. Meanwhile residents in Punggol East are complaining about transport. With this new service, it will definitely be easier to reach Woodlands or cross the border. Who agrees with me?
Huh?? Thats gonna take a long detour because if you go by punggol east before expressway, the nearest entrance to enter tpe westbound is halus link. Is like youre going a circle and i don’t think people would even prefer to do that. You’re better off take 39 and then transfer to 168
Your idea is not practical and profit driven for LTA with the Bus operator..
If bus routes extended most likely go via Yishun Ave 1 > Seletar North Link > Punggol North Ave. No Expressway For sure
According to SXL’s Facebook page, there are more new services being planned for this interchange after 104. One of them will utilise Punggol North Ave and Punggol East. According to some speculations, it will apparently be a trunk route running between Punggol Coast and potentially Tampines or Tampines North via Pasir Ris Industrial Drive 1.
Pls amend 62 or 136 here. Would be nice to have a direct bus connection from Hougang to Punggol Coast.
Dude There Is Already NEL U Lazy Buangkok Crescent Resident
NEL? Have you not heard of the recent NEL breakdowns and the recent overcrowding on the trains? any buses that can parallel nel would be good in case of such disruptions
