Upper East Coast Bus Terminal Expansion

In 2016, work was carried out to expand the existing Upper East Coast Terminal, adding 15 parking spaces for a current total of 27 parking lots. The new parking lots opened in January 2017, enabling Upper East Coast Bus Terminal to accommodate more bus services since then. Bus Services 25 & 55 are likely to utilise the new parking area at the terminal. More new or amended bus services are also expected to utilise these lots in the near future.

Marine Parade Bus Service Reorganisation

Recently, Marine Parade has seen some modification of the Bus Services plying the area.

In 2011, Bus Service 76 was amended to loop at Marine Terrace instead of Siglap Road to enhance connectivity for Marine Crescent and Marine Terrace residents. To improve service reliability on the long 37.6km route from Yio Chu Kang down to Marine Terrace and back, Bus Service 76 was amended to terminate at Eunos in March 2016. The service distance was reduced significantly to 14.9km and 15.8km in each direction between Yio Chu Kang and Eunos. This meant shorter trip durations for Bus Captains as well.

To replace the lost sector of Bus Service 76 between Paya Lebar and Marine Terrace, Bus Service 134 was introduced as a loop service from Sims Place to Marine Terrace. Moreover, Bus Service 150 was launched under the Bus Service Enhancement Programme (BSEP) to provide connectivity for Marine Terrace and Telok Kurau residents to Eunos MRT Station.

With the extensions of Bus Services 55 & 155 from looping at Siglap Road to terminating at Upper East Coast and Bedok respectively in April 2017, the service reliability will be improved with better regulation.

This leaves the following bus services that loop around the Marine Parade area:

Future amendments to bus routes in the Marine Parade area could possibly involve extensions of the above bus services to a proper Bus Interchange or Bus Terminal.

Anyone knows why these are not considered BSEP enhancements?

I guess it is because it is just an extension of UEC Bus Terminal and redirecting services to the terminal with little amendments to the routing of the service won’t be considered as a BSEP Enhancement.
