Tengah Bus Interchange is an interim Bus Interchange with the Tengah New Town. It is bounded by Tengah Park Avenue, Tengah Boulevard, and the Parc Woods @ Tengah residential estate.
The interim bus interchange commenced operations on Sunday, 21 July 2024. This facility is not to be confused with the upcoming Tengah Integrated Transport Hub, which will be built at Tengah Town Centre, adjacent to Tengah MRT Station (Jurong Region Line).

Brief History
In December 2019, the construction tender for the bus interchange (Contract PT396 – Proposed Design and Construction of Bus Interchange and Associated Works at Tengah Boulevard) was put up by the Land Transport Authority. This contract was awarded to Tat Hin Builders Pte Ltd in October 2020. The location of the interchange was also indicated within Tengah town maps issued by the Housing and Development Board (HDB) in 2020.
Tengah Bus Interchange opened on Sunday, 21 July 2024. Bus Services 870 & 992, which were loop services, were extended to serve the new interchange and become bi-directional services. A new bus service, 871, was also introduced on the same day, connecting Tengah New Town with Bukit Gombak and Beauty World.
Tengah Bus Interchange has three alighting and six boarding berths, with vehicle access via a signalised intersection with Tengah Boulevard.
Future Plans
The interchange is likely to be an interim facility, as it is zoned for residential use under the URA Master Plan 2019. Another bus interchange is being built to serve Tengah New Town—Tengah Integrated Transport Hub—which is situated adjacent to Tengah MRT Station (Jurong Region Line) along Tengah Central.
In line with current LTA naming conventions, interim and/or temporary bus interchanges no longer carry the “Temporary” name.

Article Name Change
This article was formerly titled “Tengah Boulevard Bus Interchange”, referencing the name used within the construction. It was changed to “Tengah Bus Interchange” in October 2023, referencing signages mounted at the new interchange and a Facebook post shared by local Member of Parliament Dr. Amy Khor.

Over the past few days, I have been exploring Tengah on foot. During the daytime, especially in the afternoon, the weather can be extremely hot and sunny.
Tengah appears to have been planned with a strong emphasis on computer-aided design and urban modelling. As a result, the residential neighbourhoods are highly pedestrian-friendly, with extensive sheltered walkways connecting key facilities within each BTO estate.
I believe the planners expect residents to travel beyond their immediate neighbourhood either by using the Jurong Region Line (JRL), where a station is within walking distance, or by taking public buses from the bus stops located along the perimeter roads of their estates. The emphasis on sheltered connections suggests that comfort during hot and sunny weather was an important consideration in the town’s design.
This is particularly evident in areas around Tengah Park, such as Parc Point, which are not located close to a JRL station. The same is likely to apply to Tengah Brickland in the future.
Public buses therefore play an essential role in Tengah’s transport network. I appreciate the feeder bus concept, as feeder services can complement the JRL by matching its frequency and providing convenient connections to destinations that are not directly served by the rail network.
Although many of Tengah’s roads have yet to be fully opened, and the bus network will almost certainly be reorganised once the JRL begins operations, public buses are expected to remain an integral part of daily life in Tengah. This will be especially important for residents living in BTO estates that are not within easy walking distance of a JRL station, particularly during the town’s hot and sunny afternoons.
Currently, still don’t have bus service inside Tengah that connects to Choa Chu Kang (Keat Hong and Teck Whye) and Bukit Panjang.
I would like to recommend amending 160 to Tengah. The skipped sector is already duplicated by 984 since last year.
This would also give Tengah residents a direct bus service to and fro Johor Bahru.
Actually, Tengah after Jurong Region Line opens may not need and would not justify having so many bus routes.
The current bus network at Tengah is because don’t have Jurong Region Line. Once Jurong Region Line opens, one can honestly expect a major bus network reorganization at Tengah.
In summary, it is unlikely that there will be more bus services in Tengah. Tengah will sustain itself with the vast availability of trains.
Will service 171 get extended from Bukit Panjang MRT to Tengah? Please let me know as soon as possible, thanks
Most probably no as there were rumors that the extension was cancelled. Someone uploaded a video on YouTube sometime ago, but I forgot who that was. They claimed that Service 171 Tengah extension plan was cancelled, reason being most probably due to the launch of Service 984 in End-October 2025.
