Tengah Bus Interchange is an interim Bus Interchange with the Tengah New Town. It is bounded by Tengah Park Avenue, Tengah Boulevard, and the Parc Woods @ Tengah residential estate.
The interim bus interchange commenced operations on Sunday, 21 July 2024. This facility is not to be confused with the upcoming Tengah Integrated Transport Hub, which will be built at Tengah Town Centre, adjacent to Tengah MRT Station (Jurong Region Line).

Brief History
In December 2019, the construction tender for the bus interchange (Contract PT396 – Proposed Design and Construction of Bus Interchange and Associated Works at Tengah Boulevard) was put up by the Land Transport Authority. This contract was awarded to Tat Hin Builders Pte Ltd in October 2020. The location of the interchange was also indicated within Tengah town maps issued by the Housing and Development Board (HDB) in 2020.
Tengah Bus Interchange opened on Sunday, 21 July 2024. Bus Services 870 & 992, which were loop services, were extended to serve the new interchange and become bi-directional services. A new bus service, 871, was also introduced on the same day, connecting Tengah New Town with Bukit Gombak and Beauty World.
Tengah Bus Interchange has three alighting and six boarding berths, with vehicle access via a signalised intersection with Tengah Boulevard.
Future Plans
The interchange is likely to be an interim facility, as it is zoned for residential use under the URA Master Plan 2019. Another bus interchange is being built to serve Tengah New Town—Tengah Integrated Transport Hub—which is situated adjacent to Tengah MRT Station (Jurong Region Line) along Tengah Central.
In line with current LTA naming conventions, interim and/or temporary bus interchanges no longer carry the “Temporary” name.

Article Name Change
This article was formerly titled “Tengah Boulevard Bus Interchange”, referencing the name used within the construction. It was changed to “Tengah Bus Interchange” in October 2023, referencing signages mounted at the new interchange and a Facebook post shared by local Member of Parliament Dr. Amy Khor.

I feel like Tengah should be given a 190/700/960/972-type trunk service to the city centre.
Service 874 (Tengah Interchange – Shenton Way Terminal)
Direction 1:
Tengah Boulevard, Tengah Drive, Bukit Batok West Avenue 6, Bukit Batok West Avenue 3, Bukit Batok Central, Bukit Batok East Avenue 2, Bukit Batok East Avenue 6, Old Jurong Road, Upper Bukit Timah Road, PIE, Whitley Road, Dunearn Road, Scotts Road, Orchard Road, Bras Basah Road, North Bridge Road, South Bridge Road, Pickering Street, Church Street, Finlayson Green, Raffles Quay, Shenton Way
Direction 2:
Prince Edward Road, Shenton Way, Keppel Road, Anson Road, Cecil Street, Cross Street, Upper Cross Street, Eu Tong Sen Street, Hill Street, Stamford Road, Orchard Road, Penang Road, Somerset Road, Grange Road, Orchard Link, Orchard Turn, Orchard Boulevard, Paterson Road, Scotts Road, Bukit Timah Road, Whitley Road, PIE, Jalan Jurong Kechil, Upper Bukit Timah Road, Old Jurong Road, Bukit Batok East Avenue 6, Bukit Batok East Avenue 2, Bukit Batok Central, Bukit Batok West Avenue 3, Bukit Batok West Avenue 6, Tengah Drive, Tengah Boulevard
This route would not only create an expressway-trunk route for Tengah to the city centre, but would also compliment and alleviate the heavy pressure on 174. This route has been designed specifically to avoid duplication with 174 while connecting new areas, yet still maintaining a very straightforward routing with minimal meandering. The routing in the city connects Tengah and Bukit Batok to Orchard and Chinatown, while also providing a shorter link via a unique sector in between Orchard and the CBD, which is missing since the withdrawal/rationalisation of 162, 167 and 700.
Do feel free to provide any feedback on my thoughts 🙂
Interestingly, this bus interchange is located close to the geographical centre of Tengah New Town. This can be identified by drawing two lines connecting the opposite corners of the town on a map and finding the point where they intersect.
In the future, the Tengah Integrated Transport Hub will be situated even closer to the geographical centre of the town. For now, however, this bus interchange serves the area until the new transport hub is completed and takes over its role.
