Interior

The Alexander Dennis Enviro500 (3 Door) is a low-floor double-deck bus, offering step-free access across the entire length of the lower deck.

It features a three-door configuration, with an entrance door at the front, an exit door in the middle, and a second exit door at the very rear of the bus.

Lower Deck

The lower deck of the bus features 18 seats, 2 wheelchair bays and licensed standing space for 63 passengers. The bus is fully low floor from the entrance to the rear third door.

Despite the bus’ increased length (by 0.5m) over the standard Alexander Dennis Enviro500 (for the earlier batches), seating room was sacrificed to accommodate the second wheelchair bay, second staircase and third door. This dropped the seating capacity of the 3-Door buses from 28 to 18.

Seats were supplied by Vogel Industrie of Malaysia (Model: System 750/3) in blue, with priority seats in red.

The entrance doors are conventional inward-swinging leaf doors, while both exit doors are sliding plug doors. They are supplied by Ventura Systems.

Each wheelchair bay integrates a foldable seat into the backrest. A stowable handlebar and a stroller restraint system is provided for wheelchair users and the securing of prams respectively.

Upper Deck

The upper deck of the bus seats 51 passengers. Seats are arranged in conventional four-abreast, with a central aisle running the length of the bus.

The rear row of seats is on a raised platform on the upper deck. Red-white striped stickers are pasted on the ceiling of the upper deck above the raised platform step, serving as a reminder to commuters to mind their head.

The nearside rearmost seats on the upper deck feature extra legroom compared to other seats on the bus.

Staircases

The Alexander Dennis Enviro500 (3 Door) bus has two staircases. The front staircase is located behind the driver’s cab, while the second staircase is located at the rear, next to the third door.

Front Staircase

Only the front staircase features a seat counter, which displays the number of available seats on the upper deck.

Rear Staircase

The rear staircase leads directly to the third door for quick egress from the upper deck, greatly increasing the convenience for alighting passengers.

Additional Features

Driver’s Compartment

The 3-Door Enviro500 buses feature an electronic instrument cluster. Located to the left of the dashboard are driver display units for the Trapeze Common Fleet Management System (CFMS) and NOBE fare collection system; located on the right are the handbrake and door controls. CCTV monitors and the Electronic Display Sign (EDS) controller unit are mounted above the driver’s seat.

A Collision Warning System and Anti-Fatigue System (elaborated below) are installed as a standard feature on all new buses.

The ticket printer is installed on the nearside, instead of behind the driver cabin as compared to recent new public bus models procured by LTA.

Collision Warning System

The Collision Warning System is supplied by TNT Surveillance. The front collision warning camera (Front Alert Camera T-FA) integrates Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, Distance Monitoring and Pedestrian Detection features.

Side collision cameras (T-SA Side Alert Camera) are also installed on the rear offside & nearside of the bus.

Anti-Fatigue System

The driver Anti-Fatigue System is supplied by TNT Surveillance. Mounted on the A-pillar of the bus to the right of the dashboard, the T-DA Driver Alert Camera combines a camera and an infrared illuminator into a single unit. Abnormal conditions detected include fatigue, distraction, smoking, and making phone calls. Visual and audio alerts are issued via the T-Watch dashboard-mounted display unit.

Wheelchair Bay

Wheelchair accessibility is offered via a manual wheelchair ramp installed at the middle door. LTA specifications mandate the provision of two wheelchair bays on new buses, in line with the needs of an ageing population and improved accessibility for passengers with prams.

Each bay accommodates one passenger-in-wheelchair (PIW), and the wheelchai backrest contains a foldable seat that doubles as a rear-facing seat. These seats do not contribute to the licensed seating capacity of the bus.

The forward wheelchair bay is also equipped with a stroller restraint system. USB Charging ports are also provided at both bays.

The side handlebar can be manually deployed and stowed depending on the needs of the passenger.

Passenger Information Display System (PIDS)

The Alexander Dennis Enviro500 (3 Door) buses are equipped with Passenger Information Display Systems (PIDS) for commuters. All display units are supplied by Japan-based company LECIP.

  1. LCD Display Panel (21.5″) (x2) — Lower & Upper Deck
Shows the bus service number, destination, current time, next bus stop, and up to 3 subsequent bus stops, along with rail connections at these bus stops.
  2. LCD Display Panel — Exterior-facing, beside entrance door
Shows next few MRT/LRT stations served, and number of bus stops to that MRT/LRT station
  3. LED Colour Display (x2) — Lower & Upper Deck
Shows the bus service number, destination, and next bus stop
Door systems

The entrance doors are conventional inward-swinging leaf doors, while both exit doors are outward-swinging sliding plug doors. All door systems are supplied by Ventura (likely the Rapid Sliding Door), with passenger-operated door buttons provided.

Entrance Door

There is no centre pole at the front door to make boarding easier for parents with strollers. Door movement areas are indicated in yellow.

Middle Door

The middle and rear doors are electrically-actuated sliding plug doors. A manual wheelchair ramp is installed on the floor of the middle door.

Rear Door

The passenger operated door buttons can be enabled/disabled from the drivers’ cab.

USB Charging Ports

The bus is equipped with USB charging ports for all seats, including the two wheelchair bays. A single charging port has room for two USB cables. The charging ports are mostly installed below seats, with some installed at the side panels such as at the wheelchair bays and at the upper deck rear.

Automatic Passenger Counter System

Automatic passenger counters by TNT Surveillance (Model: T-APC) are installed above all doors and staircases. This feature enables the gathering of more accurate passenger loading data by authorities, as well as keeping track of the number of available upper deck seats.

Very stupid deployment in SBST side. Instead of 37 n 107 it would be of better use on services like 60 45 65 89 109 or 147. To name afew.

Got several cases overheated..probably the small engine cannot cope with the DD chassis including aircon and torque restriction…LTA should decrease the torque restriction else it will be fuel guzzle and cases of overheating.Modern Euro6 engine exhaust system has too many filters and for our tropical climate waiting to happen only..Bedok North side engine mostly got rattling/metal gazing sound

I know that SG6339Y, SG6343J, SG6352H, SG6353E & SG6361G have been registered to SBS but the SGWiki website, for some reason, is down for a few days now, leaving the Admin unable to wite down new info on the website.
