The BYD B70A02 (BYD J6) is an electric midibus bus offered by Chinese bus manufacturer BYD Auto Industry (比亞迪).

6 buses equipped with autonomous driving technology from Zhidao Network Technology (Beijing), under the brand name MOGOX, were procured in 2025 for LTA’s Autonomous Public Bus Pilot.

Originally planned for deployment on Bus Services 191 and 400 in the second half of 2026, these plans were subsequently cancelled in October 2026.

These buses are to be registered under the SG200x-series, from SG2000A to SG2005L.

Introduction

In October 2025, LTA awarded Contract PT832 – Pilot Deployment of Autonomous Buses on Public Bus Services to a consortium comprising MKX Technologies Pte Ltd, Zhidao Network Technology (Beijing) Co. Ltd and BYD (Singapore) Pte Ltd, for approximately S$8.14 million.

As part of the consortium, BYD (Singapore) was responsible for supplying the six electric buses. The contract sum covered the wider pilot scope, including bus procurement and associated supporting systems and services.

The first BYD B70A02 autonomous bus arrived in Singapore in March 2026, as announced in an LTA Facebook post.

Public Showcase

One unit (Chassis number: LC06J34J9R4F00099) was showcased to the public at Our Tampines Hub in June 2026 as part of the Tampines AI Exhibition.

Deployment Developments

As part of LTA’s Autonomous Public Bus Pilot, the 6 BYD B70A02 buses were originally planned for deployment on SBS Transit Bus Services 400 and 191 in the second half of 2026, operating alongside conventional buses.

In July 2026, the first bus passed LTA’s Milestone 1 (M1) assessment. By October 2026, all six buses had arrived in Singapore, although only one had obtained M1 certification. The remaining five were still being prepared for their respective assessments.

On 12 October 2026, Lianhe Zaobao reported that LTA had confirmed, in response to the newspaper’s queries, that the planned deployments on Services 400 and 191 would no longer proceed.

LTA indicated that it was exploring alternative applications for the buses, including employee shuttle services, with further details to be announced when ready.

Exterior Sensor Suite

MOGOX supplies the bus’ autonomous driving solution, with various exterior sensors and cameras mounted around the front, rear, and sides of the bus. These sensors are also factory-fitted rather than retrofitted, making them well-integrated and less visible on the exterior.

Interior

The BYD B70A02 bus features a low-entry design for wheelchair accessibility. Only a single leaf door is equipped for combined passenger boarding and alighting use, with an emergency door on the right side of the bus.

There are 16 passenger seats, each equipped with 2-point seat belts in the bus. Of these, 7 seats are located at the raised platform towards the back of the bus, accessed via 3 steps. 5 priority seats are designated in the step-free section of the bus.

The bus is equipped with a wheelchair bay with a foldable seat integrated into the wheelchair backrest. A stroller restraint system is also provided.

Dashboard / Driver Cabin

The driver cabin features typical fare revenue equipment installed on public buses, including the Multi Application Display Terminal (MADT) as part of the new Fleet Management System for public buses, as well as the legacy New Onboard Bus Equipment.

The full suite of equipment from TNT Surveillance is also installed, including the Camera Mirror System display screens, driver anti-fatigue camera, as well as an interior CCTV footage display.

Additional screens for the MOGOX autonomous driving kit are also installed at the driver’s cab and in the passenger cabin.

Passenger Information / ADAS
BYD B70A02 – PIDS & ADAS

The bus is installed with a Passenger Information Display System (PIDS) from Luminator Technologies Group, featuring LCD screens facing the interior (behind the driver’s cabin) and on the exterior of the bus. Advanced Driver Assistance Systems from TNT Surveillance are also installed.

975 because always double decker but no one inside. A bit like ghost bus. Also put 405 since it only operates on selected days.

if they choose to get more of these buses these other services could get them: 6, 42, 91, 115, 403, 405, 825, 882, 962 and any feeder route

      > 962 or any feeder route

You have to be joking, most of these services see higher demand than most proper trunk services. Deploying these mini-vans (it would be an insult to call these “buses”) is just asking for trouble

Seriously… stop throwing out any random number..

      How about I throw out Svc 2, 3 ,4 ,5 next?
