Relocation of Jurong Bus Interchange:
In conjunction with the extension of the East West Line (EWL) to Boon Lay station in 1990, SBS proposed the relocation of the Jurong Bus Interchange to a new site along Jurong West Central 3, situated next to the new MRT station. Then-managing director of SBS, Mr Tan Kong Eng, added that the new Boon Lay Bus Interchange will make it more convenient for commuters to make transfers between buses and the EWL.
10 trunk services, as well as 2 feeder and 11 industrial services, were relocated to Boon Lay Bus Interchange. 4 other trunk services were re-routed, while 1 trunk and 1 industrial services were integrated with other trunk services outside of Boon Lay. Feeder Service 241 was relocated to operate from Jurong East Bus Interchange instead, owing to the closer proximity of Teban Gardens with the new Jurong East Town Centre.
