Standardisation of Terminating Trips (April 2021)

From Sunday, 11 April 2021, existing loop services that operate half trips terminating at their looping point will be identified with a suffix.

For bus services looping at a bus interchange or terminal, they will be identified with the T suffix. Bus services not looping at a bus interchange or terminal, these half-trips will be designated as Short-Trip Services, with the A, B or C suffix.

Background

There are a handful of loop services in Singapore that have trips that terminate at their looping point. Most of these trips are operated in the late-night hours, after the last bus of their parent service has departed.

Owing to the lack of standardization, some of these half-trip services are designated as Short Trip services (e.g. 70A, 79A, 180A, 200A, 972A), while the half-trips of other bus services (e.g. 857, 965, 966, 975) were not. The recent standardization in April 2021 firmly indicates all these half-trips by the addition of a suffix.

From 11 April 2021, the newly-designated terminating trips are as follows:

Bus Service Route Operating Hours
60T Eunos Int → Bedok Int Daily; between 23:35 – 00:35
63A Eunos Int → Jalan Rumah Tinggi (Opp Blk 36) Daily; between 22:55 – 00:00
73T Ang Mo Kio Int → Toa Payoh Int Daily; between 23:30 – 23:45
83T Punggol Temp Int → Sengkang Int Daily; after 00:00 – 00:36
857B Yishun Int → Temasek Avenue (Promenade Stn) Weekdays Morning Peak &
Daily; after 22:40 – 23:30
859T Sembawang Int → Yishun Int Daily; after 23:14 – 00:00
860T Yishun Int → Yio Chu Kang Int Daily; between 22:50 – 23:30
965T Woodlands Temp Int → Sengkang Int Daily; after 22:44 – 23:30
966A Woodlands Temp Int → Marine Parade Road (Opp Parkway Parade) Daily; after 22:30 – 23:30
975C Bukit Panjang Int → Lim Chu Kang Road (Police Coast Guard) Daily; after 22:50 – 23:35

The new route variants are either assigned A, B or C for Short-Trip Services, or T for ‘Terminating’, depending on whether the looping point is a bus interchange or not.

The T suffix was previously only assigned to bus routes which allowed passengers to continue their journey on the bus beyond the route terminus (e.g. Bus Service 36 and other two-part feeder services, formerly TownLink / Intratown).

Other Remaining Services

Bus Service 160 trips from Jurong East Int between 23:00 and 00:00 would terminate at Jln Jim Quee (JB Sentral Bus Ter). However, as of April 2021, Service 160 is diverted to turn around at Bus Stop 46509 – Marsiling Pk, Woodlands Ctr Rd, due to the Malaysia Movement Control Order. After border restrictions are lifted, it remains to be seen if terminating trips will be assigned a suffix for standardisation.

On the evenings of Sunday & Public Holidays between 20:18 and 20:43, Service 92M buses departing from Ghim Moh Ter will terminate at Bus Stop 11369 – Nth Buona Vista Rd (Buona Vista Stn Exit D). These terminating trips were not assigned a suffix in this round of standardisation.

    Now we need (for services looping at int/ter) 29T, 68T, 69T, 160T, 173T, 180T, 200T (renumbered from 200A), and 950T.
For continuous trips we need 42T.

      Bruh, 79, 180, 200 and 858 already have it
And, 114 is a very short route, so there will not be a half trip for that.
      68 also isn’t a lengthy route.
