Introduction:
Yishun Integrated Transport Hub is a bus interchange located in the residential town of Yishun. Connecting with Yishun MRT Station along the North South MRT Line, the interchange is a transport node for commuters heading in and out of town, allowing for convenient transfers between the rail network and the many bus services at the interchange.
Opened on 8 September 2019, Yishun Bus Interchange will be the tenth Integrated Transport Hub (ITH) to be opened in Singapore, after Toa Payoh in May 2002, Sengkang in Jan 2003, Ang Mo Kio in Apr 2007, Boon Lay in Dec 2009, Serangoon in Sep 2011, Clementi in Nov 2011, Bedok in Nov 2014, Joo Koon in Nov 2015, and Bukit Panjang in Sep 2017. The interchange is integrated within the Northpoint City shopping centre (South Wing) and the North Park Residences condominium, with underpasses leading to Yishun MRT Station across the road. Hence, retail, residential and transportation facilities are combined under one roof.
The interchange has a single vehicular concourse area with two ingress/egress points leading to Yishun Avenue 2. Located at the north end is a Left-In-Left-Out access, and at the South end, a full-movement signalised junction. Pedestrian access will be offered to Yishun Avenue 2 and retail areas of Northpoint City.
The interchange concourse features offices, staff lounges and an NTWU Canteen. Commuter facilities such as queue lines at every berth, bus departure timing screens, and priority seats at every berth will be provided.
History:
Before the construction of the Yishun Bus Interchange, Yishun had two roadside bus termini; one at Yishun Avenue 5 and the other at Yishun Central. The former handled feeder services like 800 and 801, while trunk routes 850 and 851 called at the Yishun Central Terminal. In the 1980s, the rising development of Yishun New Town called for a more permanent facility for buses. The Housing and Development Board (HDB), responsible of public works, designed and built a permanent facility between Yishun Avenue 2 and Yishun Central 1. Yishun Bus Interchange opened on 23 August 1987 with five trunk and four feeder bus services, gradually expanding to the 19 bus services today.
In 2003, SBS introduced Service 39 to Yishun, followed by 85 in 2006. In December 2010, private operator Advance Coach introduced AC7, a cross-border bus route to Johor Bahru.
The last day of operations of (Old) Yishun Bus Interchange was on 13 March 2015, following which the Yishun Temporary Bus Interchange was opened to replace the old one. Yishun Bus Interchange was demolished and replaced by an air-conditioned Integrated Public Transport Hub, Northpoint City, housing a shopping mall, offices and residential developments by 2019.
Like previous Integrated Transport Hubs, the retail section opened far ahead of the bus interchange. Northpoint City (South Wing) was opened on 18 December 2017 while the interior of the bus interchange had yet to be fitted.
Yishun Bus Interchange was used as a layover point for SBS Transit & SMRT Buses operating on Shuttle 10 during the 3 Day Closure on North South Line for Canberra Track Works in May 2019.

new bus interchange is supposed to be an improvement. usual buses stop in bus stops that’s so much farther to the mrt, that does not make any sense. please work it out! it does not make sense to take 3 steps back with the new bus interchange.
Finally open!
Still i find it awkward Yishun is under SMRT where SBST service is almost as double than them..LTA really favour them
Quite true. I agree.
110 – Compassvale Interchange to Changi Airpot PTB 4/1/2/3 – Operated by SMRT Buses. Area under SBS Transit and Hougang-Sengkang Negotiated Contract but given to SMRT Buses to operate.
944 – New Feeder in Bukit Batok Interchange. Area under Tower Transit and under Bulim Bus Package but operated by SMRT Buses.
991- New Trunk in Bukit Batok Interchange. Area under Tower Transit and under Bulim Bus Package but operated by SMRT Buses.
Yishun ITH – SMRT Buses lost services 800,803,804,805,806,807,811,812,850E,851,852,860 under Seletar Bus Package to SBS Transit but still maintains control over the interchange despite only 7 of their own services remaining from the interchange.
Do take note that SMRT Buses really expect LTA to foot bill for every single thing. Even the information board at their own interchanges follow LTA bus stop format. They don’t come out with their own format unlike SBS Transit, Tower Transit and Go Ahead. The other three operators except SMRT Buses install coloured wheelnut safety indicator. The other 3 operators also actively participate in Singapore Kindness Movement except SMRT Buses.
944 is now under Tower transit
Fun Fact:
Bus service 851 will ply chin swee rd and havelock rd towards yishun and south bridge rd towards bt merah on the first day opening of yishun ith due to road closure at chinatown.
To add on, there are no signs of KTPH shuttle at Yishun ITH according to signages inside the ITH and opening brochure, so most likely the shuttle won’t be going into the ITH.
