Tampines Bus Interchange is a bus station located at the Tampines Town Centre, serving residential areas around Tampines, Simei and industrial areas around Changi North.

The interchange is located at Block 512 Tampines Central 1. The sheltered concourse serves two separate bus concourse areas on both sides, and connects with Tampines MRT Station via a sheltered walkway. Nearby public amenities include Tampines Mall, Century Square, Tampines One, Our Tampines Hub and Tampines Regional Library.

Currently, SBS Transit is the anchor operator of Tampines Bus Interchange. With the rollout of the Bus Contracting Model (BCM), the future operator of the Tampines Bus Package will take over as anchor operator of this interchange.

Tampines Concourse Bus Interchange was built to expand the capacity of Tampines Bus Interchange, and is connected to the current interchange by a 250-metre barrier-free sheltered walkway.

Tampines Bus Interchange is a bus station located in the residential town of Tampines. Connecting with Tampines MRT Station along the East-West MRT Line and Downtown MRT Line, the interchange is a transport node for commuters heading in and out of town, allowing for convenient transfers between the rail network and the many bus services at the interchange.

The interchange has two vehicular concourse areas, Northwest and Southeast. The Northwest concourse features a linear alighting berth, four sawtooth boarding berths and three end-on berths. The Southeast concourse features two sawtooth alighting berths and three sawtooth boarding berths. Both concourses have bus parks opposite the passenger concourse for the layover of buses. A combined entrances and exit for each concourse leads to traffic light junctions with Tampines Central 1.

The passenger concourse is a sheltered bus waiting area with commuter facilities such as queue lanes at every berth, bus departure timing screens, and retail outlets. Pedestrian exits at both ends lead to adjacent developments, including a sheltered linkway to Tampines MRT.

History:

Before the interchange came into operation, bus services in Tampines operated out of Tampines Bus Terminal located at Tampines Avenue 5, near the present-day Blk 938. Set up in 1983, the roadside terminal catered to bus services before the permanent interchange was opened.

Built at a cost of $5 million and officially opened on Sunday, 29th November 1987, the Tampines Bus Interchange catered to the residents of Tampines New Town, and occupied a landsize of three football fields with 85 bus bays. The new interchange also took over operations from Tampines Bus Terminal. With an initial five feeder services and seven trunk routes, it now houses over 20 trunk routes and three feeder/townlink routes.

An annexe for Tampines Interchange (Tampines Concourse Bus Interchange) was announced by LTA in late 2014 for completion in Q4 2015 which was delayed till its eventual opening on 18 December 2016. The expanded concourse would be able to cope with higher volumes of bus movement operating out of Tampines Interchange.

Tampines has three sets of end-on berths (A-prefixed) and ten sawtooth (B-prefixed) berths. B1 to B5 are located on the East side, while B6 to B10 are located on the West side.

Downtown Line Construction

To facilitate construction of the Downtown MRT Line’s Tampines station, the west vehicular entrance/exit along Tampines Central 1 was relocated to the junction of Tampines Central 3 and Tampines Central 1 from 2013 to 2017. The alighting berths were also demolished, and a temporary, sheltered alighting berth was built for the west concourse. Previously, only the alighting berth at B6 was sheltered, and west concourse bus services had to queue up to alight commuters there during inclement weather.

Around 4 shops (including Singapore Pools) which operated in the affected part of Tampines Bus Interchange had to be demolished to facilitate the construction. Service 8 at berth A3 was also shifted to berth B6 for a few months, where a dedicated queuing berth was constructed. Service 8 was then shifted back to berth A3 in late 2014.

Tampines Bus Interchange is directly connected to the Downtown Line Tampines Station, with Exit D near the west concourse alighting berth and Exits F & G near the End-on Berths.


Tampines Bus Interchange Extension

Formerly known as the Tampines Bus Interchange Extension, the new annexe located 250 metres away from Tampines Interchange was opened on 18 December 2016 as Tampines Concourse Bus Interchange.

Future Tampines Central Integrated Transport Hub

As mentioned in the URA Draft MasterPlan 2013 for Tampines, following the completion of the Downtown Line Stage 3 construction in 2017, Tampines Interchange will be upgraded to an Integrated Transport Hub, with shopping and residential facilities integrated to the new air-conditioned bus interchange with connections to both the Downtown Line and East West Line Tampines Station. The likely site of Tampines Central Temporary Int would be directly beside the extension complex as mentioned above.

    Bus no. 4, 28, 69, 127 should go to tampines concourse.

    Bus no. 37, 46, 65, 513 should go to Tampines nth int

    Bus no. 298 should go to Tampines int. And bus no. 22 should extend back to Tampines int.

    Bus no. 20 should start from Changi Business Park Ter loop at Tampines Concourse Int.

      Edit: since 46 was amended to pasir ris, instead we can extend 8 to tampines nth. 22 shld go airport so 24 can shorten to tampines

    Hi may I know why the bus guide racks in Tampines bus interchange are always empty? My husband and I would like to collect the guides for our hobby collection. It would be great if the staff can restock the guides on a periodic basis. Thank you very much.

    Bus 4, 20, 28 should move to the concourse interchange. Bus 8, 37, 65, 81, 513 should move to Tampines nth int. Bus 298 should move to the main int while 31 can shorten to start at Bedok. 24 can go to this int so that 22 can go to the airport.

    Service 4 and 20 should be moved to Tampines Concourse Interchange, since they don’t even have proper boarding berths since 2013. Might as well utilise the berths available at Tampines Concourse. Don’t know why Sbst just cannot see this

      Yes,LTA plannings always screw up…4 & 20 can passby the bus stop beside the Int since that bus stop not fully utilised.39 can moved back to Tampines Int.
